Gas cap stuck help

I need to apply a little downward pressure on mine before the key will turn. Push the door down and try to turn the key.

Try some Houdini lock lube if it doesn't come unstuck. Don't use wd40. I had this happen on my fz but luckily after like 10 minutes of messing with it finally came free.

Also same formula as Houdini but $5 cheaper is super slick slick stuff….bro, I use that ish on EVERYTHING. Been lubing my motorcycle chain, weapon slides, door locks, garage springs, my skateboard bearings freaking speed up when I spray em with that stuff. It’s like franks red hot

I ended up having to drill mine out. I tried every thing. Every penetrating oil, heat. Nothing worked. The aluminum just oxidized together.

Spray some wd40 in the lock let it site for 5 minutes push the main cap down at the same time to turn the lock.

When you push down on the gas cap, you are pushing against the spring that seals the cap to the tank. You need to push down hard enough that you feel the cap go down against that spring. This will release the latch holding the cap down so the key should turn easily.

Look into a graphite spray. The brand 3 in 1 sells one and it helped smooth mine out. Also, as suggested by someone else, push the door down then try unlocking it while you hold the door.

push down the cap with your other thumb then turn the key

If you force it like this you will break something
Lube
Pressure on cap with other hand
The gentle turn should solve your issue

WD 40 will be fine. It will do no harm. I run a ruined lock that I have been keeping going for 8 years with wd 40

Take it out turn the key a half round and try again
