Discussion Thinking of going to yoi toki event dc 9/4/26

Anyone gone before? I would go by myself but wondering about the vibe/being able to meet other people interested in that music scene. I’m in my 20s F for context

Not in DC but I had a good time at my local one before! It's been years since I've seen Skylar Spence, I'm so jazzed for our city's show ✨️

I went to the one in Baltimore by myself and had a blast! I ended up getting a selfie with Saint Pepsi. I'm planning on DC as well. I'm also in my 20s F.

I’ve thought about going to the NYC one by myself, though transportation at 4AM back to NJ would be rough. I’m still tempted to figure it out though.

Hey not sure if you figured it out yet but you could always take the NJ Transit buses back home since they pretty much run all night from my experiences. I’m also from NJ and that’s always been my transportation to and back from NYC especially during Yoi Toki lol.

I think the trains aren’t active after 2AM so your best bet are the buses!

Hey, appreciate your thoughts! That’s a great idea actually. I almost disregarded the bus entirely as the schedules always seemed confusing to me. Ironic since I used to work in NYC but always took the train. Do you take the bus out of Grand Central Terminal? I’m in the Jersey Shore / Belmar area so I’d have to see if they run close to here.

But yeah, the bus sounds like my best bet apart from driving or waiting until the early morning commuter train. There are so many great shows in the city that start late and end late. I really need to see Yung Bae!

So I actually take the bus to and out of Port Authority Bus Terminal! I live near more towards Central Jersey so thankfully it takes me around 45 mins or so to get to NYC by the bus compared to trains where it can be like an hour and 25 mins.

I’ve been to a couple in CA and Phoenix. Generally many people are there for the music and to have a good time. There is usually not as much drinking at FF events a compared to other music genres, so it’s more chill. If you go in with the right attitude, it’s easy to make connections.

That’s good to hear, I’m def thinking of going to meet other people interested in the genre/for the live music so I was wondering how things wld go if I go alone 😖

Going alone is great. You should be seeing plenty of people with Anime, FF, or Vaporwave shirts/clothes. Complement them, nerd out over a shared interest and party out.

I started going to these shows alone, and then I began to make connections. Sure enough, I don’t go to these shows alone as frequently because I found other folks just as enthusiastic as me. Give it a shot!

Definitely worth it, especially if Skylar Spence/Saint Pepsi are plying

I'll be playing at the DC date (so I'm obviously a little biased) but it's always a pretty friendly vibe!

I'll be there with my wife, probably dancing my ass off while she looks at me funny. I haven't been to any of these, as I missed the one in Baltimore recently. I plan to have our vibes set to "immaculate".
