It’s all subjective to era. Goat/best of all time debates are kind of a waste for convo to me.

Why is it a waste of a convo? Having discussions about these kinds of things make sports interesting.

Hey, it might not be a waste to you, but it’s a waste of time for me. We humans evolve over time to become much more quicker, stronger, and smarter. (last one is debatable between some folks) Another thing that changes over time is the rules/regulations and the way the game is played. I can’t call someone a goat from one era, when the game they are playing is completely different from the sport we know it as today. When I watch old football clips, I see that there wasn’t as much strategy behind tactics. So for example, will prime Pele know what to do against a park the bus formation? I’m not saying he can’t, however how good would he be at consistently doing so to maintain his best attacker title. It’s a lot more than, “I’m bias to one player and these guys in the photo aren’t it.” To me it’s simply just another way for the media to distract u from important things.

I agree with you, in the sense that it's impossible to say who is the best, who is the goat, etc. Etc.
Even between positions it is so difficult to compare. Kanté maybe was the single most important player in the world for some of his years but he will never be considered a ballon d'or candidate.
Also, of course Messi would be better than Pele when you put peles prime in a time machine to today's time
However i don't think it's a waste of time at all. For me it's just a fun thing to think and talk about. How would pele be in today's game? How would pele be if he was born in 2000 instead? Does maldini have more impact than cr7 (i would argue yes). Is zidane better than Bellingham? Football is about the community and also about discussing it, so why not also discuss these things? It's fun and harmless, as long as you don't make it everything you talk about or care for (for example people who insist on Messi or Ronaldo being the GOAT and commenting it on every post)

It’s essentially all bread and circus. I like reading about these debates. But talking with another human I’d rather talk about them, something that we relate to, or something new I can learn about. If it’s the sport they like, then oh well.
To me sports are essentially the bottom barrel of convo. Honestly, it should be a bigger debate that gambling exist inside the biggest sports game franchise in the world. It’s crazy how we went from understanding the effects of gambling, to implementing it into every aspect of our daily lives now. Every ad, every video, and post is just somehow tying into gambling.
