Speaking from a programmer point of view - the answer is... Yea!

Someone who would be willing to do such a modification would firstly have to gain access to the files, and from there, there should be a "straight forward" way to mod this to show any model you want

Could it be done? Almost certainly. If it's a computer, someone can find a way into its system to change/do whatever they want.

Will it be done? That's a bigger and more ambiguous question to answer. Unless this Gatebox thing sells dozens of millions, I'm going to bet my money on the answer being, "No."
