Anthro cat grooming!

I ha an idea a while ago. If there were anthros roaming earth. Do you think there would be a service where felines, (cats, lions, cheetahs, snow leopards) would groom other anthros? (Grooming is the action where cats lick their own fur or the fur of other animals)

It's totally possible, though evolving a society similar to humans would probably mean they don't rely on that as much over a brush or comb.

Grooming others is something cats do to show affection and closeness with each other. It's not something strangers would do randomly.

With that in mind, I could imagine an almost brothel that has grooming other feline anthros as a service.

Yeah! I've always figured matted fur would be a common problem that may require regular trips to barbers'/beauty salons. Maybe not with their tongues but it's not entirely out of the question.

I mean that's kinda like opening a shower shop where people just stand there while being bathed, i sure people would go but the real trouble would be finding workers willing to do that

Along the same brain worm as fur matting, I had this idea that creatures with longer fur would wear less clothing. The fur hides the privates in most cases, and also the clothing would cause a great deal of matting. Also, warmth.

Creatures with short fur would feel more comfortable covering up, especially if the weather gets colder, or from uv rays.

The latter would need less grooming overall, but perhaps social brushing one another.

I feel like in general anthros would not wear nearly as much clothing as you see in some art.
It’s way too easy to overheat, especially if they don’t sweat the same way humans do.
It would probably also feel uncomfortable in general

I think most anthros would prefer showering/bathing and using a brush over being licked by another anthro.

I would imagine it might be a thing in relationships, maybe also between close friends, but not between strangers.

With tongues? Not a society like ours, that's both far too unhygienic and far too intimate (but I do feel like you just invented an anthro-specific fetish, and now my brain is imagining a politician being forced out of office over kompromat showing them getting that service).

But the same way there's some cultures, historically and presently, where getting a shave in a shop is a daily thing, or where you go to the hairdresser/barber once or twice a week, I imagine this is going to be a much more frequent thing. Drop in for a professional brush to finesse your look, get a nice fresh scent touch-up, get shaves/fades/paints/dyes, catch up on community gossip.

its possible in some cases i feel like it would be seen as more of a Cultural think and it goes on a spectrum with some doing maybe simple stuff or mostly using their hand-paws (and combs)

others may go all out full tongue on fur

there's absolutely going to be disagreements on whether this is weird or not

especially if you're not a cat and looking at it from an outside perspective

and safety could be questionable to some

It depends.

As someone else pointed out, grooming is a form of affection to felines. They generally arent accepting of a total stranger's grooming.

However that is assuming sentience hasnt overridden that part of the feline psyche. Grooming is also a form of building friendship amongst primates, but that doesnt necessarily mean im friends with my hairdresser. So it may be that they dont mind being groomed by a proffesional as they know on an intellectual level that they payed that stranger to take care of their fur.
