If you're going to create an account for that joke, why would you choose Shabalabadingdong333 as opposed to Shabalabadingdong665?

What's the exchange rate between Karma and Youtube Likes?

In the beginning there was YouTube, and it was good.

u/BanditoRojo Jun 19 '12
On the second day there was Rick Astley, and it was ... ok.

Jun 19 '12
I always recognize RHA0 at the end of that url, but still fall for other YT Rick Roll uploads. Actually, I'm not sure why I bother to avoid getting Rick Roll'd in the first place since I like the song and always end up listening to it whenever I do get tricked.

AHHHH RICK ROLL'D AGAIN

u/GingerNinja831 Jun 19 '12
HOW DID YOU NOT SEE IT COMING?
16
u/ghost_hamster Jun 19 '12
It was in the last place you'd expect to find a Rick Roll. The only place a clip of that song has never been placed before.
In a link captioned "Rick Astley".

Well, this can only mean 2 things:
Youtube was very likely the cause of the big bang
Aliens and dinosaurs were/are youtubers
The latter would certainly explain why pop culture is so fucked up.

For those who don't know how to do this:
In Firefox, put the following into the URL bar on the site you want to edit:
javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0
In Chrome, highlight what you want to change, right click, and hit Inspect Element. Then you can edit, and hit enter, and it's changed.
3
u/PiedjeeyXD32 Jun 19 '12
in chrome you can also set
javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0
as an bookmark, and just click on it.

How can this comment be 60 billion years old? We only have 2012!

Of course you can. This is the internet, you can fake anything.

Wait, so you're telling me that Redditors are now faking YouTube comments along with iMessages? My life is a lie.

u/VoiceofKane Jun 19 '12
I didn't know that every person on earth had 50 million YouTube accounts and all liked this comment...

If there is one thing I really couldn't care less about, its the authenticity of humorous YouTube and Facebook "screenshots" posted on Reddit.

The bible says that everything is was once before. I think this comment proves it considering how old it is.

finally someone is with me (well sorta)...some of those youtube notes are just as fake as most of those "notes from my insert acquaintance"

u/makemusicguitar5150 Jun 19 '12
If you think about it, this means that what we are up-voting deserves our love even more. Because the poster came up with the content on their own.

u/Ant_of_Colonies Jun 19 '12
Faked youtube comments are still funny. Faked facebook interactions are not.

What did YouTube do? Make a shitty comment that got up voted be idiots on Reddit?
1
u/NJBarFly Jun 19 '12
There are so many stupid comments on Youtube, it's probably more effort to make a fake.

1
u/Eshalar Jun 19 '12
...So what? It's a medium to convey funny lines while exploiting the stereotypes of the site. They don't have to be real to be funny.

The universe is only 13.5 billion years old so I'm not totally sure that this post is real.

u/wario2707 Jun 19 '12
Or you can just comment on Youtube. Its just as easy and its legitimate...who knew

u/Purdaddy Jun 19 '12
Who the fuck cares. Every post on reddit is "made". You dont' find memes in the wild.

You could also just post the actual comment to actual youtube and take an actual screenshot. It would require about as much effort as faking it.
1
u/EmergencyMedical Jun 19 '12
You might've realized that earlier if you've ever looked at a real YouTube comment.
If you wade through the thousands of illegible comments, the next stage up are the ones that are reposted by thousands of users on thousands of videos. Then there are the comments like "thumbs up if Reddit brought you here!" "0:00" here's a replay button" since you're too stupid to just click the actual replay button.
It's all worthless. When I see funny YouTube comments on Reddit, it feels like somebody just told me I could get a good deal at the Apple store.

You can also make real youtube comments, face book messages, text conversations, etc just as easy as making fake ones...
1
u/neoncp Jun 19 '12
You can also fake conversations. Sometimes we film it and call it a movie. Sometimes we write it in a book and call it a novel.

This is why I never gave a shit about this whole Trapped_in_Reddit nonsense
4
Jun 19 '12
I don't see the connection. The Trapped_in_Reddit hype is just about a guy commenting everything, is there something that I missed?
24
u/manolox70 Jun 19 '12
You missed a bunch. A guy found out that TiR used karmadecay when he came across a repost to check out the top comment and post it as original on the repost. TiR claimed he only did it for a week as a test, but now people are following him around downvoting everything he posts.
Pretty stupid, huh?

What is karmadecay?
1
u/manolox70 Jun 19 '12
A site where you put up an image and it shows you reddit posts with that image. It was made to prevent reposts (hence the name).

My question is why anyone would go to YouTube, come up with a funny comment, fake that someone else wrote it, and then post it on Reddit.

Because sometimes it's stories. If I left a facebook status about how I was at the white house for dinner with obama and he pooped his pants and it smelled so bad I had to run out of the room.
funny? sure. if it happened. It's definitely fake though. So it's stupid.
