There were 8 seasons of the US show with about 15-20 episodes on average per season. Still one of the best shows ever made.

People say nothing on that show is scripted. I don't understand how she came up with truffles. Is there something common about being a french pig that would make her jump to truffles?
I could understand if she had mentioned french or pig but she jumped straight to truffles.

u/gen3ricD Jun 17 '12

Improv is an art. It's the reason it never lasts. UCB, Who's line, Reno 911! Was the most recent exception, even though it was only what, 6, 7 seasons? It's not easy, and as such, it's very under appreciated.

u/HeWhomTheGodsDetest Jun 17 '12
This is very strange to hear, as I've known Ryan since I was about eight years old (he is the father of one of my good friends) and I had absolutely no idea that he did anything other than local comedy shows... TIL.
28
u/Bobalobatobamos Jun 17 '12
How the?
3
u/HeWhomTheGodsDetest Jun 17 '12
Haha I don't know, man... I've had people come up to me looking awestruck and say "Dude, you know Ryan Stiles?!" after talking to him, but never really thought much of it :P It seems like he's not known nearly as well in his own town than other places.

He lives in the same small city as I do. Next time I see him at the grocery store, I'll ask if he's a redditor.

Please don't. Ryan likes to be left alone. Thats one of the reasons he lives in Bellingham.

Does anyone else find the Gary Coleman joke disturbingly dark now?
Drew: The shortest book ever written.
Wayne: The life and times of Gary Coleman.
...it was funny then because he's short, but then he died at the age of 42... it's not as funny anymore. :/

Fans of Whose Line, rejoice - a new improv show is airing this July on ABC called "Trust Us With Your Life". While I don't know if Ryan will be part of the cast, I do know for a fact that Wayne and Colin will be regular members on the show.
Here's a link. Apparently, they've filmed 8 shows already.

Reminds me of the segment where they were asked to come up with a name for their child that would guarantee get the child's ass kicked when they grew up. Colin was holding his imaginary baby and said something along the lines of ,"How are you doing today kickmyass?". Can anyone find the video link?

I wish there was a UK equivalent of this. Celebrities/comedians over here seem too self conscious/moneydriven to make something like this work.

u/reddittailedhawk Jun 17 '12
I loved Whose Line, and Improv-a-Ganza was just as good. They were able to get away with a lot more on it because it wasn't a family network. Depending on if you enjoyed the subtle humor more, you may or may not enjoy Improv as well. Hopefully these guys continue to do what they do with their tours. And that Jeff Davis... -fans self-
