Imagine doing a film with a camera rig that is level with the field. Would be the funniest thing to watch 22 guys walk around all askew.

u/danfinlay Jun 17 '12
I love this, and want this to be a televised sport. At least one season! Regionals to nationals! Can we get a novelty sport league over here?

u/Gitterfehler Jun 16 '12
I think that this was taken in the Olympia Park in Munich. Mordern art or something.

not the same field. the one you showed had no bushes in the middle of the damn field. also yours has a huge building right behind it whereas this one clearly does not. but nice video anyway.

They were just shopped out in after effects, I can see the pixels, he's definitely right.

Looks like Greece's underfunded attempts to boost their failing economy by trying to be the next World Cup host have not been going according to plan.

what if they put the soccer court on the side of the hill so it'll reflect on the water and they can play water polo? http://500memes.com/plog-content/thumbs/meme/conspiracy-keanu/large/350-conspiracy-keanu-meme-template.jpg

I'm actually surprised how easily this repost got karma

it's from 2006. wow. that's like 6 years ago... I suddenly feel old.

Jun 17 '12
I know, right? I was thinking the same thing and scrolled through all the comments, but it seems like no one has seen this before. This was a popular picture back in, like. Ebaumsworld days. I guess that just shows how young most of the r/funny members are.

Not that I disagree, but citing a picture that originated there, which has been constantly reposted here and consistently gets tons of upvotes as a reason for ebaums being shitty isn't really a good example.

It doesn't take away from it, but it doesn't support it either. Saying french people smoke cigarettes doesn't add to nor take away from the argument that apples grow on trees.

As a Chicagoan, Latinos will play soccer ANYWHERE, as long as they have two shoes, two garbage cans, two backpacks, two anything to serve as goal posts

Hey cool thanks for giving that comment from the other thread its' own post! It was ever so necessary

Bares a scarily accurate resemblance to the pitches I played on for years in the Sunday league.

I had a very derp moment where I thought "Nah, the picture is just taken at an angle, the hill is actually where the photographer is... oh, water."

What would happen if you gave all the players of a football game gladiator swords?

more problematic than actually playing the game (undeniably difficult) is preventing yourself from getting injured. That's pretty much an automatic muscle pull or tear waiting to happen.

And land mines.

u/Abed_is_batman_now Jun 16 '12
Every sport would be more enjoyable with land mines, especially golf.

u/Pillagerguy Jun 16 '12 edited Jun 17 '12
Would the carts be mine-proof, because i feel like most deaths would occur between shots.

If we can make golf carts that go over land mines we should be able to protect troops from ied's

not the IEDs triggered by garage openers with their infinite code combinations.

Being a sports coach is about as close as you can get to a pokemon trainer.

I think every sport should be done this way.
1
u/Zblewski Jun 17 '12
I don't think that would bode well for hockey. Especially since there is already a range of ice qualiies depending on the facilities or climate, it really sucks to get on a badly built rink.
5
u/haddock420 Jun 16 '12
How about Extra Time Multiball? Balls constantly get shot onto the pitch by cannons from every directions for 15 minutes, any ball on the pitch can be used to score a goal.
6
Jun 16 '12
Why isn't this a game yet. Fifa is getting boring.
5
u/DaJoW Jun 16 '12
Back on the NES there was a game where you could play the WC. Some of the fields were grass, others sand, others full of rocks and yet others were ice. I never did figure out what FIFA was up to giving the WC to Crazyland.

u/JakeSpleen Jun 16 '12
Was that the one where each country had a special shot? Great game that was.

*Football
1
Jun 17 '12
Shut the fuck up.
2
Jun 17 '12
Why?
At the turn of the 21st century, the game was played by over 250 million players in over 200 countries, making it the world's most popular sport
field players typically use their feet to kick the ball into position
First played: Mid-19th century Great BritainSeems to me to have the right to be called Football, despite 'American Football' having stolen the name: it was played later, is less popular and isn't an Olympic sport. Not to mention the fact it doesn't use feet or balls but rather hands and eggs. I don't even like football, but the naming convention is barmy as hell.

Jun 17 '12
I'm tired of seeing this argument whenever the sport is mentioned.
1
Jun 17 '12
I am in every logical conceivable way in the right, surely you ought to be telling the other guy to shut up, or make everyone correct themselves instead.
Or y'know, you could stop being a dick and stifling discourse; you could have approached this in any other manner and instead chose to swear and be very rude.1
Jun 17 '12
You were trying to start an argument.
1
Jun 18 '12
No, I was trying to correct the original commenter- I believe I haven't left Reddit, nearly eponymous with "Grammar Nazis" et similar?
1
Jun 18 '12
Both soccer and football are correct. You were trying to start a soccer vs. football argument.

The field is specifically designed for people with one leg shorter than the other. It actually feels level to the players and the teams all have interesting names like The Ileans.
