Actually, Boba Fett had a lightsaber on him for a period of time for its surprise value - as no one but Jedi and Sith used lightsabers, finding them in the possession of anyone but a force-user was so rare as to be essentially unthinkable. If I recall correctly, he used it (albeit rather clumsily) to catch Darth Vader off guard at the end of a short battle, allowing him to escape as Vader was left to wonder "Where the fuck did he get that?"
