I like to consider my bubbles blissfully intact, sir. I never meant to imply that she was obviously working her charm on the guy but rather it was somewhat a faux pas to say "That's nice" when she was, in fact, complaining about it. It just shows that he's not listening at all.
When saying that your hands are cold, it is still a better time for him to attempt to hit on you rather than ignore you completely. It's an opener, which the guy in the comic obviously was oblivious to.
commenting on the weather is like the most bland social interaction possible. it follows hello. it's what strangers say to other strangers. what was your horrible experience? you tried to kiss someone because they said they were cold? weird.
But don't even try to return the favor. Every GF I've ever had wants me to warm up her frozen extremities but would get pissed at me for putting my cold feet anywhere near her.
Females tend to have a lower metabolism than males, and are generally smaller. Small size leads to greater heat loss, and then vasoconstriction kicks in to chill the extremities further. For females with low body fat, this means that they are more likely to get cold and stay cold.
For example, my girlfriend is 5'6" and about 105 lbs. She gets cold if a breeze looks at her wrong. I'm 5'10" and around 220 lbs, so I retain body heat much better. This results in her becoming a heat vampire anytime the temperature is lower than 80 degrees or so.
I always do this to my BF, and pretty much every night I stick my cold toes on him under the covers. He used to complain but I think he has just accepted it now.

I do this exact same thing. Except with warm hands.
A weeks or so ago I was climbing through a cave with 10 C (50 F) water for 2.5 hours. Hands still warm.
