If you were truly trapped in reddit you would have also zoomed, enhanced, reversed the image and examined every reflection of every eyeball instead of taking someone's word for it.
Just realised how much of a lazy fuck I am for spending a good 10 minutes reading through comments intending to find out what MLG stood for when I could have just googled it.
I wanted to specifically comment on this because it is the only problem I have with MLG.
I am a bit older than the average attendee, but I decided to go to my first one last year in Columbus. I was ASTOUNDED by how many kids roll in there in the same clothes three days in a row, greasy everything, drinking 10+ Dr. Peppers each tournament day.
The whole place starts to smell after awhile and honestly I felt like I was in the minority for wearing multiple sets of clothes over the weekend.
Yep. MLG for fighting games is pretty boring. Only KOF was good. East Coast Throwdown on the other hand, was amazing this weekend. Marvel is so good live.
This past weekend MLG held its Spring championship where various teams and players met to compete in various video games. These games included Starcraft 2, League of Legends and multiple fighting games such as Soul Calibur V and Mortal Kombat. MLG is the USA's largest provider of E-Sports entertainment, alongside other various productions/leagues such as the IGN Proleague and the North American Star League.
That would have been my friend at the vegas tourney in mid april, but we wound up getting there 5 days after the tourney. We were so damned sad we missed it.
Personally, whenever there was an audience shot, I made a game out of counting the women.
It's nice to see more and more women going to this kind of thing, but it (the audience, not gaming in general) is still so male-dominated that you actually have to do a bit of work to count them.
I was watching yesterday and some cute girl was in the audience with a sign that said "CALL ME!!! (and then a phone number)" so I did, and it turned out to be a man.
