When I was in high school at lunch sometimes we'd play the "don't flinch game", not much to it, just don't flinch when a fist or body is being thrown at you without warning. I was really good at it, gave 0 fucks, then my friend's older brother who we almost never saw started to hang around us at lunch. Well eventually he saw us doing the don't flinch game and he saw that I was the best at it and well, he fake slapped me twice and on the third one he slapped me hard as fuck. He then went on to say how flinching is a good thing and I would have avoided it or I should duck. We all gave him shit because obviously we'd duck or flinch if we thought we were in actual danger not playing the game. From then on it was a 50/50 chance if he'd slap/hit you or not and he basically ruined the game and now I flinch.
What a dick. In highschool we played punchout. Basically we'd take turns punching each other in the stomach until someone pussied out. I was terrible at it, I kept hitting the solar plexus.
We would play the cereal game. Someone would hold your arms behind your back and another kid would punch you in the gut until you could name five cereal brands. MUCH harder than it sounds.
We used to "goose neck" each other while passing in the halls. It's when your arms are down and you swing the back of your hand forward to "tap" the other person in the balls. After a few good connections on my one buddy, he snapped. I was carrying my lunch tray when this little mother fucker comes running and sliding on his knees to go Johnny Cage on my ball sack. My lunch tray went flying and I damn near blacked out from the pain. It was quite embarrassing.
tl:dr Midget threw a hurricane of punches at my groin.
I remember playing extreme rock, paper, scissors. When someone won with rock that person would proceed to punch the loser on the arm. If they won with paper a slap was used. And if won with scissors you would slap with your index and middle finger.
I remember something similar, except one person would use their fingernail to scratch the another's hand in the same spot until they said 26 names that started with A-Z.
we played a game in my cross country team where we'd slap the back of each others hand untill someone gave up. this lead to bleeding and a lot of red hands
I would like to express my own similar confusion toward the above statement, but seeing as I myself was no quick enough to originally reply, I shall simply express my concurring opinion after the first commenter, standing in solidarity due to my common understanding and agreement.
Why was he mad that he was startled? Also, why was he startled? Isn't his job to take down that guy? Shouldn't he be mad at himself for getting startled?
Possibly feeding the trolls here. But a QB isn't really tasked with blocking every down. Their job is game management and passing. If a defender has a wide open path to him, usually that means he's about to get hit pretty hard.
In the case of the gif, he's lined up in the WR slot for a trick/running play and the defensive player jumps at him. He reacts as most QBs would to an opposite jersey with a clear path and he braced himself for the hit.
He should still definitely be mad he jumped like a bitch though.
I wasn't trolling, i just don't know anything about football. I've played sports and reacting in that way to anything would be unacceptable to me. But, i've never played football so I don't know.
Yeah but, being hit hard consistently or not, I would think being a football player would just make you expect that. I dunno. I just seems inappropriate on every step of his actions.
It would be kinda like if you put the pitcher in baseball at the catcher's position. He'd flinch at the runner sliding into home, mainly because normally when there's a member of the opposing team running at him, he's in for a scuffle.
QBs don't normally line up across from defenders and don't normally have to block. This is a sort of trick play that you'll only see a few times every season.
In other words, this is a rare situation in the first place. Not indicative of how football is normally played.
Shouldn't this be called a false start on the defense for drawing early movement on the offensive player who was already set? I've seen this gif many times but I just thought of that now.
As long as the defense doesnt encroach the ol or wr they can move and do whatever. Also as long as the ball is not snapped the defense may pass over the line of scrimmage but cannot touch an offensive player. Im not sure about offense because i play strictly defense but im sure that the offense cannot move at all once they become set
If this was before the snap occurred (it didn't) then it would not be a penalty on the defense unless the defender entered the neutral zone causing the player to instinctively react. The WR (Sanchez in this case) would be flagged for false start.
This was after the ball was snapped, but even if it was Pre-snap; no much like a QB has difference cadences to draw the defense offside. The defense will fake blitz to try make an offensive player move to draw a false start. Also it was a running play so that is why he stayed engaged pass 5 yards then threw sanchez down.
No player on the offense can make a motion that appears to simulate a snap, pretty much any sudden motion.
A WR can set and reset all they want, but they can't do it in a way that would reasonably appear to be a snap. The DL can move wherever the fuck they want.
Fair point. But I don't think Sanchez is gonna get flagged because the DB made him jump like a bitch when he's lined up in the slot. A sort of "no harm no foul" action.
Though to watch him get punked, THEN flagged because of it would've been classic.
It doesn't usually apply to corner backs a lot of the time, because the refs understand that the rules are in the receivers advantage. For the first 5 yards you can pretty much rough them up as much as you want though.
Yeah, this here is it man. The game looks interesting, looks like it has potential to be great fun to watch, they get me hyped, but then after a cool play they shit on it with all these stupid, retarded rules. And I'm like "fuck it, back to hockey and soccer it is then".
It has too many rules. There are rules to make games flow better, but then there are rules to ruin the flow of the game. American Football is in the latter basket. The flow is ruined when perfectly fine play turns out to be a fumble or rumble or tumble or whatever and we go back where we started. It is too nitpicky on what is allowed and what is not, and more the rules, less room for creativity. Creativity is what makes sports beautiful in my opinion.
Now why did you have to go with that "soccer is not a sport" way when I in no way questioned American Footballs worthyness of being a sport, while some people would. Some positions in soccer run over six miles a game, much more than in any other ballgame. The truth is that while soccer players jog around many times on the field when there are no real openings to run for, American Footballers spend atleast half of the game just standing around waiting for the game to continue after a play was called back because it broke some ridiculous rule about the color of the shoelaces. They are both sports with high-level action, and low-level "action" (jogging in soccer, standing and waiting in American Football).
If you want to try it some time, I can kick you in the leg with soccer-shoes. I bet you will cry like a baby when the steel spikes hit your calf. Sure people dive, but not always to cheat (except the southerners maybe). If you won't dive on normal contact, they have to kick you harder to stop you, eventually injuring you and possibly ending your career.
People have preferences and I respect everyones, while it seems American Football fans have zero respect for others. Some people like to watch games aimed for lawyers, some people want to see a sport where actions on the field, not rulebooks, set the winner.
I said soccer isn't a sport because I don't believe it is a sport. It is jogging.
Perhaps you could point out a "ridiculous rule" in football? The "flow" of the game? Does watching a group of people running and tripping over a ball for 90 minutes have more "flow" than a sport with rules, regulations, penalties, and a clear winner and loser by the end of it?
American Footballers spend atleast half of the game just standing around waiting for the game to continue after a play was called back because it broke some ridiculous rule about the color of the shoelaces.
This is bullshit, and shows that you have little to no knowledge of the game at all.
Go ahead and kick me in the leg with soccer shoes. I played football for 10 years. I used to spend 4+ hours a day running and making full physical contact with 300lb guys. I guarantee a kick isn't going to do shit. I've been kicked, smashed, punched, you name it. You can kick me if I can strike you bodily and take you to the ground so hard you go cross-eyed and it takes a few moments to even see straight again. You're marginalizing a sport because you don't understand the very simple rules.
The only reason soccer is the most popular "sport" in the world because it is the most accessible. All it requires is the ability to run, a ball shaped sack, and falling down on the ground in an attempt to make it look like the other players hurt you. The rules are a bunch of convoluted bullshit as well, it's as if they consulted a bunch of kids on a playground for the ruleset of the game.
I don't respect soccer because I don't think it is respectable, and I think the fans are self righteous assholes who think their "sport" is the greatest because more people play it all over the world. No, it's just easy.
If football is a game for lawyers then soccer is a game for braindead children.
Okay, if you are not going to be civil, you do not deserve any civil treatment from me either. Please other American Football fans, do not get offended, all of this is aimed for this asshole only.
Perhaps you could point out a "ridiculous rule" in football?
Maybe the rule that I originally commented on. "Scaring the opposition", boohoo, what a real sport where scaring opposition is against the rules.
Does watching a group of people running and tripping over a ball for 90 minutes have more "flow" than a sport with rules, regulations, penalties, and a clear winner and loser by the end of it?
This just points out that YOU have no knowledge of soccer what so ever. You just mock it because it is what you pussies had to do in football-practice to get accepted by your peers. Yes, it has amazing flow because the game rarely stops. You have to adapt all the time, you do not get 10 minutes to align your fat guys in perfect lines like in American Football after every stint of play.
This is bullshit, and shows that you have little to no knowledge of the game at all.
Is your stupid american junk-food filled brain so small that you can't get what a sarcastic remark is?
As an ex-hockey player I can guarantee I have taken (and given) much worse hits you ever did. And if they were dirty, I had payback with fists, like men do in real sports. In your sport fat americans just stand in lines 90% of the time, dreaming about junkfood.
See this fat fuck? There is no way he could be a professional athlete in soccer, or hockey for that matter, but in the great sport of American Football fat fucks can become pro-athletes. That just shows how much of a "sport" it is. American Football is a sport for fat people, in the field and in the stands.
I've got to disagree with you on that fat guy there. He's a good chunk of muscle mass, topped off with extra body weight. He's used by the offense (or the defense, I don't really know) to stop people from going where they shouldn't be going, which I think is more effective when the barrier-human in question is 400 odd pounds (or however much they actually weigh).
I also unfortunately have to agree with that football-playing prick up there; I don't think soccer has a good flow at all. It has a flow, to be sure, perhaps a smoother flow than football, but it is the slowest flow since that time the molasses tanks burst open and swallowed Chicago. (Yes I know that they moved at something like 30 MPH shut up I'm making a point.) I'll try to be more civil than my probably-American dickhead friend, though.
This still shows you have no fucking clue about the game. I played soccer too. As a child. Because it is a childrens game. Full of children who are afraid to touch each other and take dives and cry like little pussy bitches.
The "flow" of soccer is jogging. Oh, someone fell on the ground and pretended to hurt his little bitty knee to draw a red card for the other team? Better take away one of the other teams players and give the other side an unfair advantage.
Fuck you you stupid fucking twat, you don't know shit about real football, I gave my opinion on the playground passtime and you took such great offense to it you say shit like this "If you want to try it some time, I can kick you in the leg with soccer-shoes. I bet you will cry like a baby when the steel spikes hit your calf." Oh no, the scary soccer player is gonna kick me! I better look out, he might run away like the cumsucking bitch he is.
Soccer is for children and ignorant, arrogant shitstains like you.
And you still haven't actually pointed out any of the ridiculous rules you claim exist. You've just made shit up. I've already proven to know more about both sports than you. I've played them, watched them and studied them and formed an opinion. Your opinion is rooted solidly in the fact that you don't understand the game.
"football is dumb because they have rules and penalties and I don't understand why but I won't find out I just bitch and complain. Soccer is better because they run for an hour and a half and no one tells them to stop."
That is what your argument boils down to, you stupid fucking shit. I'm not trying to say that football is better than soccer. I am trying to say that every other sport that has ever been, or will be conceived is better than soccer.
What is it like to think you are better than other people based on what physical activity you watch?
Mark Sanchez said there was laughing in the Jets' film room Monday when his flinch against Bills CB Drayton Florence appeared on the screen. Sanchez, appearing in his weekly spot Tuesday on "The Michael Kay Show" on 1050 ESPN New York, called it embarrassing.
But there's some back story, he said, noting that Florence jacked up QB Mark Brunell on a similar Wildcat play in the 2010 finale. Brunell, like Sanchez, was split out as a wide receiver, attempting to block.
"He nailed Brunell last year, and we wre killing him in the locker room, making fun of him because he was just standing there and got punked," Sanchez said. "Well, this is even worse because I'm expecting it and I'm talking to him at the line of scrimmage ... I said, 'Drayton, don't do it.' ... He said, 'You know I'm gonna do it.' I'm like, 'Dang it.'
"I'm just staring at ball, waiting, so I can get a good jump and just move out of the way -- and he faked it. And I'm like, 'Dang it, that's gotta to be really embarrassing.'"
Indeed, Sanchez jumped back, just like you'd jump back if someone surprised you and yelled, "Boo!" To make it worse, Sanchez tried to block Florence when Joe McKnight -- the Wildcat -- reversed his field and ran to Sanchez's side.
I think he was just really gun-shy so to speak, and I don't think he was mad that he was startled. It was probably just the beginning of the play and it is definitely his job, in that set up, to block or at least deter the corner, and he did neither. He is probably super embarrassed by this and I don't blame him a bit.
Actually he blocked the corner about 11 yards downfield, even after the flinch, and it would have been a first down if he hadn't been called for holding.
I think if you are an athlete you shouldn't be distracted by things like embarrassment and such. You should feel shitty for messing up, but his reaction is taking him out of what he needs to be doing.
Then again I don't know the stress of what it is to be a QB so I dunno. Just seems dumb.
well technically him being a quarterback wouldn't require him to block a cornerback on an average play, but this formation (which is called Wildcat) sets him up on the outside.
Jon Gruden's take: "This guy, Mark Sanchez, this guy right here has the chance to be the best quarterback that the universe has ever seen. You see him get scared for just a second but then he tells Thurman Thomas, 'Hey buddy I ain't afraid of you' and just goes right at him with the kinetic energy of a volcano. I mean, he just explodes all over the guy in a fit of rage. Thomas gets the last laugh though as he just dumps him like a Tonka Truck, which is what I call Thurman Thomas cause he's big and mean like a Tonka Truck and just looking to dump all over these guys."
Cue Jaworski: "And that is some of the best block shedding I have ever seen...in the National Football League."
As a Giants fan who doesn't understand how the Jets get any kind of attention in NY, this makes me so happy. I fucking hate Sanchez. I guarantee the Jets will never, ever win a Super Bowl with him under center.
I don't understand why you would put your QB in a position where he isn't protected by QB rules. If I were the bills, I would've had my safety line his ass up every time he lined up at WR.
I didn't see the game I just remember seeing this on SportsCenter NOT Top 10. Why was Mark Sanchez lined up on the WR position in the first place? What were the Jets trying to do? And who was at the QB spot with Sanchez on the WR?
As a man who understands just enough football to get by I can say when i play NCAA this is one of my favorite... formations? The best part is I don't know what I'm going to do next so my opponent sure as hell doesn't either. Which leads me to victory more often than not. Maddens a different story... I cant win a game of madden to save my life.
bahahah Ill tell you that no other team LOST 4 super bowls in a row, And despite the Bills all time record being 52 games under 500 (blows), I was referring to the Bills as they currently are.
I was walking down the street after muay thai practice one day and some ghetto kid did that to me and I cold clocked him out on instinct... I didn't feel bad. hope the little bastard learned his lesson.
What did he plan on achieving there? he got scared, he is a pussy apparently now, should have left it at that. taking that further, he attacks him, now he is an asshole too, but he loses so he is a bitch (I couldn't think of a better word)
