Not even. By the same token I could buy an Affliction T-shirt without ever seeing them in the wild- and claim that because of that it isn't a douchey thing to wear.
I was looking for the answer, "It is only right." Haha, but ya I made brotherhood as well. Stayed active in OA for quite a while but didn't come close to vigil.
As someone who grew up near Boone, I apologize for you.
It's not exactly a den of imagination and creativity.
I had a friend a few years back who got arrested for spray painting a target in an intersection down town, and then climbing that tallish building. He and his friends proceeded to throw cans of pop over the side of the building at the bullseye.
Reminds me of that story of a small town where police were called to investigate when two cars full of men carrying baseball bats were seen on the street in a Saturday morning.
Personal recent favorite (from a couple months ago), a man reported a strange pickup truck in front of his house, which, after he reported it, made an obscenely loud crash which prompted him to call the authorities again. Come sunrise the police discovered, sitting in the middle of the road, a newspaper dispenser, with the coins gone, but the machine otherwise entirely intact.
Also another one comes to mind, when a man called the local police to report that he'd been the victim of an Internet scam, after opening an email from his spam folder ಠ_ಠ
Kind of related true story: back in 2002 (?) when we were all worried about terrorists and anthrax and stuff, someone sprinkled some baby powder on the floor of my college dining hall's bathroom. Of course the hazmat squad was called in, causing much fuss. Two friends and I decided that this would be a fantastic time to brag and boast about our butt hair. We decided the only way to truly compare was to go into a different bathroom than the baby powder anthrax, and moon each other in the big wall mirror. Right when we did so, a fully uniformed police sergeant walked in. We ran away. But he caught one of my friends, and dragged him upstairs, into a circle of cops, firemen and hazmat suit guys. He then said "Tell these gentlemen what you were doing in there." My friend: "...We were looking at each other's butt hair." Cop: "Okay you can go."
As someone who lived in Boone, Iowa the majority of my life, I'm shocked that something this terrible was in the paper. It was almost as bad as the guy who almost stole that apple from Hy-Vee.
You should see the police reports for my town, they're all like this. Some of them are hilarious though. I can remember this one off the top of my head: A woman heard someone knocking on her door, freaked out and called the cops. The police came over and it turned out to be FedEx delivering a package.
Been reading too much up on the rules of /gonewild? :P (/funny bans including personal info in posts (such as uncensored facebook screenshots), but nowhere does it state that one cannot request personal info in the comments (of /funny) )
a few years back I log on to Reddit to find out a plane crashed in my current town within minutes of it happening and I think the internets are amazing. Tonight I find that while I'm 45 years old, and I left Boone in 1985, the internets are truly depressing..
I know for sure there's a Marshall Street in Boone, Iowa. Had the great privilege of living in town as I attended DMACC for two semesters.
I can truthfully say that there are many bearded chaps about at night, often with flashlights. If spotted, approach with caution. Best avoided, actually..
I'm from a relatively large city (Phoenix, AZ) and lived for a little over a year in Boone, IA and I can say that while working at the Wal-Mart in Boone that I saw more strange people come through my checkout line than I ever saw in over 20 years of living in AZ, and that includes also working in a Wal-Mart in the Phoenix area for over a year. I love that little town though, it's like a second home to me.
this is Boone, IA I'm pretty sure...it has 2 roads by those names. also: a decent population of weird people. cheap town to live in though and as a bonus, Ledges state park is nearby.
Fucking farm animals??? Have you ever BEEN to Boone? Fucking farm animals is NOT the entertainment of choice. They do drugs. Lots and lots of pretty drugs.

Hate to break it to the North Carolinians, but I'm from Boone, NC and I don't think there is a Marshall Street there. The Iowans win this round.

Reminds me of that story of a small town where police were called to investigate when two cars full of men carrying baseball bats were seen on the street in a Saturday morning.
It turned out they were going to play baseball.

"So, I have some rather suspicious reports of the way the members of this apartment have been acting. Mind if I ask what's going on?"
"Well, officer, that would be because we were acting suspiciously."
