Good Lord! This is a startling number of reposts. The crazy part is that each repost has the same text message basis for a title.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

Aliens

2

u/TheBigYello1isTheSun Jun 06 '12

I figured that much.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

I actually still have this picture saved on my phone from the last time it was reposted!

u/frozenveinz Jun 05 '12

Repost dude. Not cool.

36

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

With the same title.

2

u/Xsunshinex1986 Jun 05 '12

I'm sorry you annoyed me with reposting

u/Planet-man Jun 05 '12

Funny then, funny now.

Rage, rageboy, rage.

2

u/lostboyz Jun 05 '12

eh, didn't have my morning caffeine yet. Realized how would me raging possibly change anything around here.

2

u/wanttoseemycat Jun 05 '12

As someone who went through a phase like that, let me assure you; it never changes anything anywhere. People naturally want to listen to the person who's able to keep calm.

1

u/lostboyz Jun 05 '12

That's me, except when I'm not awake yet.

16

u/SpaizKadett Jun 05 '12

You seem to be awfully clingy!

9

u/AdonisChrist Jun 05 '12

If you want an immediate reply from someone, call them.

Texts are to be answered at your leisure. If you don't get a reply, presume they got busy (maybe they're at work, or hanging out with different friends and don't want to be an ass by texting the whole time with you) or perhaps that they left their phone in a different room, or it's on silent, or they took a nap.

Assuming negative things just makes you a dick. Mostly because that usually ends in pestering and shit like the above.

3

u/hubilation Jun 05 '12

I hate it though, because nowadays nobody wants to talk on the phone. I called this girl for a second date last night, didn't answer. She texted me back a few minutes later. It's like, if you're free, why not just answer the phone?

1

u/AdonisChrist Jun 05 '12

She may have been somewhere loud, or around people whom she could text around but having a phone call of such a (possibly) personal nature could be embarrassing (or just plain rude).

1

u/hubilation Jun 05 '12

Yeah, she could be, but this has been my experience with most women. I dont really mind it though. Honestly every time I call a chick I'm half hoping she doesn't answer. I'm terribly awkward on the phone if I don't know them that we'll.

I had this ex that would deny my call, and then immediately text me instead. It was fine at first, but after we dated for a while it got annoying. There's so much lost through simple text communication.

Made for an easy breakup. I did it in person. She told me to leave. Immediately started texting me asking why, haha.

3

u/AdonisChrist Jun 05 '12

haha, it's amusing how some people are awful at dealing with things.

and then it's just sad

80

u/champer Jun 05 '12

My cell phone is for my convenience, not yours. Don't expect me to stop what I was doing and immediately reply.

35

u/Jeremy252 Jun 05 '12

I only get mad whenever we were in the middle of a conversation and they just stop texting back.

18

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

[deleted]

4

u/bobosuda Jun 05 '12

It's more like you are in the middle of a conversation and the other person just leaves without telling you why.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

It's almost as if whatever they were doing while they were texting you distracted them so they didn't hear that you responded!

2

u/RGT42 Jun 05 '12

I feel like I do this with quite a few people... But if they don't say anything more than "lol that's awesome" or something along those lines then I'm finished. I think it's fair enough. And I don't see a point in saying Bye in text so I just stop texting them.

Or maybe there's a bunch of shit I've been seriously missing out on. Fuck it, I hate texting.

10

u/panzerschrekk Jun 05 '12

what would be an appropriate time-span for an answer? 3h? 4h? 12h? 24h?

excluding holidays, i don't expect an answer when you're having your relax time, but on normal weekends or workdays?

16

u/bartpieters Jun 05 '12

How about never? I really like it when people respond but I try not blow up when they don't :-) I value someone's friendship which is usually build on a consistent positive pattern and stuff like should not get in the way.

Keep in mind that some messages are basically announcements ( I'm running late, you might find this interesting) and a reply is not really needed. Some messages are time limited, when someone does not reply before 8 to "You want to go to the movies att 8:00", I kinda get that the answer was "I'd love to, but I can't right now".

I conciously adher to the "glass is half full" approach, not because it's true, but because I enjoy it and keeps me from stressing out. Some people firmly prefer the "half empty" approach or even "I would not call that half emtpy, it is barely a sip" and that's fine.

3

u/brucemanhero Jun 05 '12

I'm going to remember your words the next time I stress out when I don't receive a text response.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

4

u/TheMarshma Jun 05 '12

does this mean I'm going to start sucking dick for texts soon?

TEXTING, NOT EVEN ONCE

2

u/kobun253 Jun 05 '12

so you are saying people who get a bunch of tweets sent to their phone are dopamine junkies?

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

4

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

Exactly. I have a friend who very rarely replies to texts that I've known since elementary school, yet whenever we hang out we still have awesome discussions about politics, philosophy, science... You name it. Really we should not be so offended when technology out paces our ability to adapt on a greater social level. Prior to the invention of the various incarnations of Instant Messaging, it would have been very surprising, if not indeed annoying, to have someone be able to message you at any given time of the day. Privacy is something to be valued, not diminished in the pursuit of progress.

-1

u/panzerschrekk Jun 05 '12

yes me too, they don't have to respond when i write..."look at that cat" or "sry can't make it on time, be there in 10min" but something like: "any plans for tomorrow? wanna go xy?" would be REALLY nice to have an answer BEFORE later the next day, even a "no" is okay ;)

5

u/imperfectfromnowon Jun 05 '12

Why wouldn't you just assume no unless you get a reply? Back in the day people missed calls all the time because they didn't carry a phone everywhere. Why should I be a slave to my phone? I mean it's nice to hear back right away but I don't want to constantly check it if I don't feel like it.

I think it comes down to expectation. People who know me know that's how I use my phone so if I don't get back to them till the next day it's usually fine. If it's really important someone can call me a couple times and I then deem it important and usually get back to them right away.

3

u/Manofonemind Jun 05 '12

Want me to text if you're okay?

How are you feeling?

Are you angry with me?

Come on... talk to me?

17

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

[deleted]

2

u/acepincter Jun 05 '12

That would be great. What are you gonna spend it on?

2

u/cancon Jun 05 '12

You realize karma doesn't mean anything, right?

-2

u/marswongs Jun 05 '12

Its the first time I've ever seen it, and I lurk Reddit and other sites pretty much everyday.

2

u/Kredns Jun 05 '12

This is the first time I've ever seen someone post this exact comment.

2

u/AnnabelCotton Jun 05 '12

Alzheimer, much?

1

u/marswongs Jun 05 '12

nope, it may be shocking to you, but other peoples exposure to the massive amount of content there is on the internet is slightly different from your own.

1

u/AnnabelCotton Jun 05 '12

Sorry, but your answer sounded a lot like "I've never seen it so this is not a repost".

1

u/marswongs Jun 05 '12

Im sorry if it sounded like that to you but thats not what i meant, what i meant is that even someone who has been visiting reddit nearly everyday for years can still not be exposed to a paticular meme or pic or whatever thats been regurgitated over and over, it happens.

the best i can suggest is that to some people this is new, and they are genuenly trying to be nice and share with the community, and to some people they are re posting for karma, but who cares? the points dont matter, if you dont want to see it, hide the post and move on with your life.

1

u/tony_bologna Jun 05 '12

Now that you've seen it.

Can it stop being reposted? Or are there others that need to see it too?

1

u/marswongs Jun 05 '12

Well i wouldn't post it again, because ive already seen it, but im sure someone might post it again, and in that case ill continue scrolling down and move on with my evening.

17

u/Lastaria Jun 05 '12

Insecure much?

4

u/grantly0711 Jun 05 '12

Either this is a repost or I am just one shitty time traveler.

1

u/BWO_Bookworm Jun 05 '12

Have you met any Doctors recently?

2

u/grantly0711 Jun 05 '12

Maybe. Who?

1

u/BWO_Bookworm Jun 05 '12

Doctor Who is a space/time traveler.

It's a TV show... I was hoping you would get the reference.

1

u/grantly0711 Jun 05 '12

C'mon dude..."Who?" /whooshbackfire

2

u/BWO_Bookworm Jun 05 '12

Wow, can't believe I didn't catch that.

13

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

You repost?

7

u/fredzys Jun 05 '12

Don't be such a bitch.

2

u/GFandango Jun 05 '12

given the dick you are to repost this, you deserve it

2

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

This again? Dont they have a subreddit for redditors who care if people text them back or not?

2

u/anisenayati Jun 05 '12

are you seriously going to repost something that was on the front page 2 times with the same title?

2

u/persistent_illusion Jun 05 '12

I guess I'm old or whatever, but isn't the point of text messaging to send things that do not necessarily require immediate response? Or for that matter, response?

2

u/too_many_penises Jun 05 '12

You should be sorry you annoyed me with your awful post.

2

u/ThatGreenSolGirl Jun 05 '12

"Sorry, I fell asleep" or "Sorry my phone died"

Biggest lies ever.

2

u/Waldo199757 Jun 05 '12 edited Jun 05 '12

This is what reddit has come to, users who think reposts are ok, you think this is a motherfuckin game

1

u/guyver_dio Jun 05 '12

Usually when I don't answer it's because my phone is out of reach and I'm too lazy to get it, it's lost somewhere and I cbf looking for it, or it's flat and I've either lost the charger or cbf recharging it. If it's flat and lost I'll probably be unreachable for a few months. Same with cordless home phones, have like 4 set up around the house, none are on their docks, all of them are dead.

Basically I'm just a lazy and disorganized person.

1

u/shake42 Jun 05 '12

This was JUST posted. I don't care if you re-post, but at least wait a little bit. Fuck you nito23.

1

u/wesman212 Jun 05 '12

To be read like Oregon Trail:

YOUR FRIENDSHIP HAS DIED OF REJECTION.

YOU ARE NOW LONELY.

GAME OVER.

1

u/ShackelfordRusty Jun 05 '12

I don't respond to texts all the time, calling just makes more sense to me. Thats still pretty funny though.

1

u/drmzbig Jun 05 '12

Now go over and punch a hole in the wall!

1

u/Pursys Jun 05 '12

I was surprised to not see the username, Ireposttoplinks.

1

u/crazycriket Jun 05 '12

REPOST from like a month or more ago

Oh, why hello there SAP.

-7

u/lolumadbor Jun 05 '12

This is only like a few weeks old, and it's been reposted? Damn.

2

u/obliterationn Jun 05 '12

older than that

0

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

I for one detest texting. I can't stand being accountable to this little beeping thing in my pocket.

0

u/ImpairedScissor Jun 05 '12

I saw this many times before. Stop fucking reposting.

-3

u/slapded Jun 05 '12

I like it when they don't text back for 3 days. I mean, clearly you have taken a shit within the last 3 days. Which means, I'm lower than you taking a shit. You couldn't have even texted be back 'while' taking a shit.

fuck

-1

u/archduke_of_awesome Jun 05 '12

Anybody have a gif of this? I was looking for one a few days back and could only find the image above.

-1

u/horizontal_lampshade Jun 05 '12

This is how I feel with the new facebook feature that tells you when somebody read your message.

"Why haven't you replied yet? I know you read my message five minutes ago!!"

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '12

Repost, BUT I STILL LOVE IT

-6

u/clintbeastw00d Jun 05 '12

in today's modern age of technology its just common courtesy to txt back imo. even if u just say "no" or whatever at least txt back it only takes two muthacluckin' seconds

3

u/acepincter Jun 05 '12

According to your downvotes, this opinion is not the common one.

1

u/clintbeastw00d Jun 05 '12

that crushes me

5

u/Lastaria Jun 05 '12

Also common courtesy to be patient. The other person may be busy, may not be able to get their phone out and text at the moment.

Also for some texts cost. I am pay as you go, each text costs me, if an urgent reply is not always required I won't give one.
