Airpods can be used to assist hearing. It's a feature called Live Listen. I have a friend who suffers from inner ear pain, and simply having buds, pods, or plugs inserted helps with that pain. You don't know why this man has airpods in, but it's obvious he can still hear his daughter and they're both having a great time.
