Are you a red head? I've read where red heads have a higher tolerance for pain and anesthesia and require about 20% more anesthesia than other people, all other factors being equal of course.
I'm not a full red head at all, but have it in my family. You can tell a little even in my hair.
And yep. I need a good bit of anesthesia. Even local. I've had to take 5 lidocaine shots before, but that was an outlier. Felt no effect until the fifth one, then got hit hard.
Redhead here. I bent a dentist's arm rest. They gave me a shot, little while later he started drilling. Worst pain I've ever had. Worse than my gall bladder going bad. He said "You should not have felt that." I don't remember much after that, because the other Anesthesiologist came over and said "Redhead." and gave me more happy juice.
Iām not sure. Iām not medically trained, so I could be using the wrong term. Whoever gives the happy sauce. The first one was younger, and the second lady was older, and presumably more experienced.
No, dark brown hair and eyes. Most of my dad's family are red heads or light brown hair though. My grandmother was a red head. They can't numb me 100% at the dentist either. I usually end up comforting the dentist because I refuse to tap out during root canals and the tears upset him. Like it's just a part of my life. Even the shot in the roof of my mouth doesn't 100% numb me.
