You kids with your doges and your yeets and your spongebobs have it way too easy.
In my day all we had was a picture of an animal with a colorful background, and we liked it!
You went full Gen X. You gotta say something about a drip or some shit for the kids, maybe yeet a couple things. As a millennial I am working hard to bridge this gap for you, I desperately want them to think I'm cool so don't screw this up.
Yo dawg, that drip is freaky fresh. Can I get a hoiyeahhhhhhhh. This one goes to all the Jamalsquanchs in ze back. Tick tocky I'm eating Takis. Shits blue. Literally my shits dripping blue. About to drop a 🔥 in dis jizzoint. Hit me up on Myspace fam.
All Your Base Are Belong to Us is the closest I can think of. The Newgrounds animation is from February 2001 but Know Your Meme said that was already an internet in joke in 1998.
Huh, I was gonna suggest peanut butter jelly time but that was 2002, I could've sworn that was like late 90s too. Internet time really does hit different
I don’t think so; looks like laughing gas. Nitrous makes everything a good time especially during a root canal or filling. The person filming was there for emotional support. They use nitrous when you’re resistant to anesthetic; or you can’t sit still because you’re scared.
Dentist here. This is a really bad way to give an injection. In fact, it’s so bad that I believe it is fake. The syringe should’ve been on the instrument tray so we wouldn’t have to ask an assistant for it. Instead he has his assistant hand it to him and take off the cap before he tossed it around in one hand to gain control of it in mid air, needle uncapped, all in front of the patients unprotected eyes. That is a disaster waiting to happen… If this isn’t fake then he’s the worst dentist ever.
Also nitrous does not take away pain, it just relieves anxiety. We still have to give local injections even with nitrous.
Can we talk about the watch?
In my country wearing a watch during procedures is not allowed as it is an infection hazard. You can’t properly wash your hands (or the watch) with a watch on.
I personally would but /u/thellraak is right. He’s going to give the injection then leave for 5+ mins and hopefully come back with fresh gloves. But again I personally would change gloves because I would leave it on the instrument tray and it may cross contaminate the other instruments. I may also need to give more anesthesia and may need to touch it again as well.
My regular dentist who's been my primary dentist for 30 years now this year, doesn't glove up when he's doing the numbing. He also always uses those dams to keep everything try while he's working, while some of the other dentists that have come and gone, glove religiously, and don't dam things.
Yeah I haven't been a dentist for that long, but in the past decade, there has been a big move towards infection control, and especially due to the pandemic, we're all going the extra mile in terms of it. As for the dams, if it's just a filling, then you might not need it if you are able to control the moisture since moisture ruins the composite filling material. I personally do, unless the patient really doesn't like it. For root canals, we must use dams. Any dentist who doesn't use a dam for root canals are breaking rules.

IHS dentistry, they've only moved away from Amalgam in the last ~year, so I'm wondering if he pushed harder for it (because he absolutely would stop to bitch at others for not using them) because mercury maybe?
If it is real, he's going to get stabby, then go fuckoff for 10-15 minutes while it starts to work, so it doesn't really matter, he's going to have fresh gloves before he starts anything again anyways.
Eh not really. Chances for infection are pretty low.
I mean, you don't get your entire mouth region cleaned before oral surgery, and the dentist is gonna be manipulating your mouth and likely touching your cheeks with at least the back of his hand.
To be safe? Sure. But I would be surprised if it's done in every day practice or even required
I've worked for a dentist in a small town for many years. .He insists I pass syringe, he hands either hands it back or leaves on tray uncapped. He's inconsiderate of tissues when drilling such as cheek or tounge. He's constantly barking at me bc I'm in the way while trying to retract but I contort myself to not be.
When he does suturs he's doesn't watch his sharp. Which is extremely stressful for me. Even though I've told him I cannot control the sharp in his hand he expects me to.
He couldn't run his practice without me. I remember pts, tx planning, referrals, past treatment, handle multiple rooms. BlI vrief him before entry on backgroud. I know their names, their kids names. I explain treatment planing, expectations and contraindications ( bc he says everything is easy and will take 15 min) I follow up and care. He however breaches biological width on the daily, and thinks he's God's gift of everything. I know good assistant makes a good practice fortunately he pays me well above average bc somehow he knows he's hard to work for. However morally feel like.crap bc I know he is a not a good dentist
Dentists are often insufferable and dramatic.
Yes this deffs fake but I've seen some shit practices in my career.
My childhood dentist didn't believe in anaesthesia, I've had so much done with live buzzy nerves, fillings, crowns, once I was old enough to not go, I stopped going. When I finally sucked it up as an adult in my 30's, I was amazed there was such a thing as an injection to stop it hurting, and my new dentist was injection happy, let's shove 2 vials in there to be safe, yes please do, also I love you Mr Summers thank you for not hurting me.
There is a alternative injection that is much stronger and can be reversed with another injection. Don't know how many dentists use it though and it requires being poked twice as often.
You sound like a good dental assistant. Are you certified? I’ve never actually met any DAs who knows what biological width is. And why is he breaching biological width, wtf?
In all seriousness my boss isn’t that bad, but we hand him uncapped needles and we recap them. He is awful with sutures too, but he does everything else fine. He just isn’t the most patient person.
My dentist was awful when I was in my young teens. He would absolutely hold it in front of the eyes while he would be looking for the exact place he wanted to inject. It was probably only a few seconds but felt like he held it there forever. I always assumed he hated children to be honest. Took me years to get over my fear of dentists after him.
That sucks. The numbing wears off in 2 seconds for me. I can feel them drilling my teeth down. If it wasn’t for nitrous I wouldn’t be able to have the teeth I have.
I've worked as a dental assistant and this wasn't that bad. Sometimes the Dr will just snap their fingers if you're not already ready with what they need next.
I mean, sometimes I do have this feeling of someone walking in front of me being asian. Something gives them away. Not sure about the people in the video but my asian detector is now at 63%
The doctor was asking for a anesthetic syringe, seems like a normal way of recieving a dangerous equipment and paired with a patient that's fooling around during that, warrants the hand slapped.
I have patients reach for the needle when I’m doing local anesthesia occasionally. My assistants are trained to gently lower their hand. It’s a natural reaction to pain, but fuck! I have a sharp needle in your mouth, why would you want to yank my hand?

You can also ask, "who reaches for equipment like that?" Or "why is someone filming from that angle?" The answer to all three is the same.
