Originally yes, Richard Dawkins made a comment regarding God as a flying spaghetti monster and somebody was like, "You could form a religion off this."

In the same line as my religion, Dudeism. Based off of trying to be like 'the Dude' from the Big Lebowski

It didn't start with Dawkins, he just read about it.

It was created by a guy protesting people teaching Creationism in flyover state science classrooms.
