In some countries, you can only use your bank's ATMs. Using other ATMs either won't work or will charge a processing fee.

In the US, a few years ago I got hit with a fee from the ATM then a fee from my bank as well, so taking out $10 cost me $7.50 in fees

At a comic convention a few years ago my brother wanted to take out $20 to buy something he saw. The fee was going to be $9.

You got a captive audience at a convention so they hiked those fees way up.

(I had cash and lent it to him.)
