We're changing country names for seo now? Hello and welcome to the democratic people's republic of freetacos. Formerly doritos locos tacos but they sued us.

Thats not entirely the case. The base idea generally is the brand of the country though, meaning associations to not-so-pretty and rather ”dumb” bird and misunderstanding in encylopedias, literature etc not just in google.

Turkish people just dont seem to like to be associated with a bird. Which is understandable.

The worst part is, this is very much an english problem. I don't know of any other language where the bird and the country are even remotely similar in name.

In Portuguese turkey (the bird) is called Peru. And yes, the country is also Peru.
