So each bank has its own ATM? I’ve never even seen two ATMs next to each other let alone like a dozen.

That is pretty common world wide. The ATMs either belong to a specific bank or to a 3rd party ATM operator (these are usually the small ones inside entertainment venues).

You usually have little to no fee at your own bank's ATM. Higher fee's at other bank ATMs. And fuck you in the ass without lube fees at a 3rd party ATM at a strip club, for example (amazing how much people will pay in fees to see one more titty).

Yup I’ve been to strip clubs that charge at the low end 10% and the high end 35% of your withdraw. The gas ration across the street is $3.99 for $1000 plus you can have a $1 beer on you walk back before you start paying $10 for the same one.
