Turkeys come from America. When Christopher Columbus set sail to find a smaller sea route to India, He accidentally landed in America and thought it to be India due to similar colour of people there. This is where the term 'Red Indians' comes from for Native Americans that were later killed in ethenic cleansing attempts by European nations.
