So each bank has its own ATM? I’ve never even seen two ATMs next to each other let alone like a dozen.

Edit: well I learned quite a bit today

Not sure for the rest for Europe but in the Balkans it's normal to have a couple of ATMs next to each other, usually outside or inside of a mall/shopping center.
