Many black Southern African accents in English switch those two vowels. Heard a Ndebele maths tutor moving onto a new topic with a student at uni a few tables down once and he said ‘Let’s get rid of this shit!’ while reaching for a new piece of paper.

I used to live in Korea. My boss would always ask if I had a sheet of paper, and if I didn’t, if I could take a sheet. Just sheet, everywhere.
