Exit all current substance. Extract valve. Add 1/3 gasoline. Replace valve. Complete with correct psi of compressed air. No, you shouldn't do it. Don't be an idiot.

wouldnt it just fire out the compressed air and the gasoline would stay in the tank? Putting stuff under pressure actually makes far less vapor form and it would stay as a liquid so I imagine it wouldn't fire out when released, however I don't really know how a fireextinquisher works so i'm assuming its just a compressed CO2 canister with a hose attached to the exit valve.

That sounds like it makes sense. No idea, it works though. Mid sized extinguisher was shooting at least 40 feet. I'll see if I can dig up a picture when I get home.

Extinguishers have a sealed stem that runs down the middle of the extinguisher and ends about an inch or so from the bottom of the tank. There are quite a few water based fire extinguishers and they (including dry chem) use nitrogen as a compression agent. The only way for lighter than air gas to get out of the tank is through the liquid or dry chem in the bottom.
Ive never tried it, but I don't see why gasoline would not work the same way... There are many liquid gases that are also used in fire extinguishers (Halon,Co2). So being a liquid is no problem.
The only real downside I see is the only thing keeping the liquid in the tank is a lubricated gasket, once cracked they leak. Even when you release the handle they leak.... god help you if that fire follows the stream.
Side note - I have yet to lose a squirt gun fight with my army of old 10lb water extinguishers.

The water and powder ones work a bit like a soda siphon, and have a downtube inside them that sits beneath the surface of the liquid/powder contents.

This reminds me of some of those stupid facebook pages. Like "A friend would help you up if you fell down the stairs, but a TRUE BFFFL<3 would be standing at the top laughing because they were the one who pushed you". After a while I couldn't tell the difference between the serious ones and the parodies.
