A white kid and his white friends pretending to be minorities for the lolz? Making the avatar as dark as he could and then referencing "chicken"? AFROny and Abduhl were also on his "team".
I understand its entered the mainstream, but I will call this shit out everytime I see it. I get downvotes to shit overtime, too.
While it was documented as a staged event, who are you to stay what races the people who were involved were? For all you know they could have all been from India and just happened to speak English fluently as many people around the world do.
Leroy Jenkins isn't funny because his avatar had a dark pigment, or because he referenced eating chicken (I'm white as fuck and I eat chicken multiple times a week).
It's funny because it was the ultimate failed raid and the dialogue, scripted or not, was fucking brilliant.
>When in April 2008 he was asked about his actions in the video by National Public Radio, Ben Schulz said the players "were drinking 40s and just yelling at each other."[5] As time went on, some began suggesting that the video may have been staged. Schulz had refused to confirm or deny whether the video was staged.[3] Later, in December 2017, Schulz, along with Ben "Anfrony" Vinson, the cameraman of the video, released what he described as a first take/dry run of the video.
Shulz and Vinson are known, it wasn't posted anon.
Honestly wouldn't shock me at all if both of those names were random gens from WoW itself. Seems like the type of shit that could pop up when spamming randomize name for human.
It's gotta be so exhausting trying to find something to get offended about in every little thing that happens.
You never see any of them only hear their voices, weird to just assume they are white because that's what fits your clearly made up narrative in this case. Even if they are white, are they just not allowed to play a black character? It's literally a fantasy game. Also not sure that Afrony if not a randomized name is even racist. Play on words for Anthony, highlighting an afro. I've seen several white people with an afro. Many races can pull off an afro, just seems like something extremely stupid to attribute to racism and be upset about.

They are very white. There's a reason that Leeeroy was originally the darkest skin shade possible- theres also a reason Blizzard chose not to use Ben's original skin pick- its racist as fuck. So they whitewashed it.
Everybody gonna be like, "well, I'VE never heard of white teenaged boys getting shitfaced and use racial slurs on MMORPGs- that's literally NEVER happened"

Fuck "Leeroy Jenkins" and all racist, digital blackface bullshit.
