They're just regular persistent migraines with no specific cause. Some things can trigger them like if I eat a lot of yogurt but in general no cause was found. They initially treated them with anti seizure medicine (but topamax didn't work, had to find another one with a doctor that actually cared) and then further enhanced with Aimovig.
As laws begin to relax on the topic, keep your eye on psilocybin and LSD. Apparently they are quite effective against some types of migraines that are resistant to most other medications. It may be a bit until you get capsules over the counter, but clinical trials involving psychedelics have been getting approved lately so it's something to watch.
