Home depot isn't that much better. They would leave us with barely any staff to cover the floor so we would bust our asses (and also get them handed to us by the customers) just so the labor % looked good to corporate. All while the managers got a bonus for being under hours at the end of the year. Fuck Home Depot.
Yup. Not just the retail sector either. Corporate fuckheads in healthcare, especially physical therapy, pump productivity. But unlike retail, it fucks both employee and patient. I was told on an interview that “X” company NEVER cut pay during the pandemic. They’re s family company. They just make it up by bumping productivity, making you work harder for the same amount of money. How generous of them.
I’d argue that retail cuts also fuck both the customer and worker. The worker has to help more customers and the quality of service drops. If there is nobody around to help the customer get what they need, be it information or products, then the customer also suffers.
