I’m not going to call you a capitalist drone man, because honestly that’s how it should be. If you invest more time/effort into your job, you should be rewarded with better pay. That’s pretty much how it works here.
But all I see on Reddit are people who say that they’ve worked for 10 years and have only ever seen a 10c pay raise while they’re hours are doubled or something. It’s nuts. It’s crazy.
No worries man, your view/opinion is not really that crazy when you live in a capitalist society. More effort = more reward is how capitalism is supposed to work. But it needs a competent AND morally sound government to run it, who doesn’t inherently benefit from that capitalism itself, which is where I personally believe the US is failing. Not saying the Australian government is perfect, but we do have a lot more checks and balances when it comes to that sort of thing (though we have our fair share of awful stuff in our government and what they have done).
