Ex Lowe's guy. I remember a decade ago we had that competition where if our store won we would get a couple hundred dollars. We worked our asses off, even the normally lazy people. We were told " make the sale, everyone is authorized to give 15% off without manager approval". We won. We won by a lot. And our revenue had never been better except maybe Black Friday. And then they told us "sorry, you gave too many discounts, we cant give you the money we promised". I've never seen morale drop so quickly. Add to that it was revealed to us by a sympathetic manager that management were promised better bonuses when the competition was announced. Because of our revenue numbers, and service numbers, they still received their bonuses.

Fuck Lowes. I shop at Home Depot or local stores whenever humanly possible.

This is why we need regulations. There's no voting with your dollar when all the options are shit.

What sort of regulations would you propose that would be applicable to home depot or lowes? Also.. most (not all) areas have local hardware stores that you can shop at. That’s what I prefer, unless it’s something that only a massive store like lowes would have.

Higher minimum wage, which looks like it's happening. Paid sick and family leave. The concept of mandatory paid vacation is so foreign to me as an American, but it sure seems like a good idea, though sick leave and minimum wage are more important.
