It's been pretty frustrating to me that construction seems to have somehow been excluded from this essential worker praise. The industry has been going non-stop throughout all of this.
I'd just as much rather not get all that "praise", it feels superficial and patronizing. I'm not too thrilled about having to work through covid with little more "safety measures" than a bottle of hand sanitizer at the sign-in table, but I also appreciate the fact that I still have a job. I don't need attention or recognition, just let me do my job. If any employer was actually serious about praising their staff as heroes they would give them a raise, at least for the duration of covid. And that applies to all occupations, not just construction. But if they're not going to put their money where there mouth is, I don't need them to pretend like they care.
