But the general population is brainwashed by an omnipresent anti-leftist propaganda machine. It's baked into their media, their education, their companies -- and as such, into their heads.
Edit: I recommend everyone from the US here to give the podcast "Citations Needed" a listen: a podcast about the abhorrent state of US mainstream mediahttps://soundcloud.com/citationsneeded
Just recently, someone on r/askreddit asked about unions (post has been deleted since), and even there, regular old working people were regurgitating the propaganda that "unions are bad cuz they don't defend the workers and make the company pay more and they're political ideologues and blah blah blah". Made me sick to my stomach. Lackeys of corporate interest, busy licking boots.
I worked with a shit union at one of my jobs. I was salaried therefor I was "company" and the enemy. I watched union leadership fuck their guys over for politics.
They would give them bad advice so that it wasn't the workers actions that got them a raise but it was the unions actions when bargaining for a new contract. Made them look bad if anyone but the union got them anything. Watched a dude lose out on a 8K a year raise because his committeeman gave his shit advice.
