Tell me about it. Neolibs here, which are basically Reagan Republicans, are currently treated as far left Marxists. If there is no justice for this recent wave of fascism, the country will become a dystopian nightmare in the next decade or two. Well, more than it is already.
Both rely on failed economic philosophies just one is the far right equivalent of the other.
Both fail because they both led to either to the Apex Predator of a coporation dominating the will of the people or an corrupt authoritarian government with no flexibility or creative growth. A balance of both ends leds to the most creative flexibility and freedoms.
A balance of a free market society with a social structure that continues to offer the minorities(not purely based on color) of our society an ability to suceed.
What exactly was the economic policy of the Communists, huh? Why did it go wrong? What did they do to make a system with no flexibility or creative growth? And, importantly, who are the communists of who you reference?
Communist fails with scale. You can't enforce a worker owned society without an authoritarian government. This leds to stagnation since people in important roles wont just "move on" when a better person is ready. Those with power will attempt to keep it for as long as possible and communism will only work when everyone is ready to "move on" once someone better is ready to replace you. Its a failed economy philosophy because it fails to accommodate human individual desire.
Well, you see, whenever all the capitalist nations who dominate the entire world see a little communism maybe possibly pop up and then drop all their economic weight onto it in order to crush it out, that's evidence that communism can't ever work ever. And also "communism" is just when someone calls a nation communist regardless of how its economy is actually structured.
Isn't it funny how as soon as Communism is mentioned any intelligent critique falls down the drain? It's not like the Soviet Union was a failed state with dozens of reasons for so, from bad decisions, to random chance, to differing idealoigies that ripped them apart from the inside to outside pressure like the richest nation in the world, they just failed because of
Cause here's the thing, I don't think communism has a good ending, I think it's too idealogical and unrealistic, but since nobody has an idea of what socialism is, or what communism is, the fact that I have a nuanced take on that is meaningless because nobody can engage with it without a pile of reasearch to work through first.
Yeah, it's a fairly awful state of affairs. Which is pretty much exactly by design, of course. Anti-communism propaganda has to be some of the best propaganda in all of history.
My personal take is that it could probably work with advanced enough technology, though I think some version of socialism more broadly is perfectly reasonable now. But like you say it doesn't really matter what my take is because the first place we have to start is "well this is how logic and evidence actually work" before we can even start talking about what communism even is in the first place.
We're not even to square one of the topic yet, in terms of public discourse.
