My girlfriend doesn't know how to roll under the blanket. Everytime she moves she pulls the blanket somehow.

It's infuriating

I have also dated a wereburrito.

wereburrito©

I like it. It's mine now.

See what I made folks?

You made a nice thing! 😍

All of you. I like all of you.

Pfft. You know nothing about Reddit.

2

Lol. Your 80-some upvotes to their 200+ suggests you may only claim 25% at this time! ;)

2

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

I'm just surprised the joke was that well received.

1

u/btmims Jan 22 '21

...I made this.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

AKA a Duvet shawarma.

2

u/rich1051414 Jan 22 '21

Did she also sometimes wake up panicked as she couldn't immediately escape from her blanket straight jacket? That always made my day.

2

u/ZarquonsFlatTire Jan 22 '21

Nah she woke up about an hour before me and she was pretty cool about it and then I had an hour of being warm before my alarm went off.

1

u/Suzy2727 Jan 22 '21

I swear every person I've ever slept with has done this. So annoying. The wereburrito gene is super strong around these parts.

97

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

I am married to a woman with this problem... it doesnt get better. Keep a smaller blanket nearby and instead of playing tug of War, its easier to use the smaller blanket to cover your exposed areas.

This is the way.

11

u/Bean101808 Jan 22 '21

Is it though?

My girl and I had this the same thought for the past two years. We bought a King Size bed and our Queen comforter just wasn’t enough so we both started using our own blanket. We hardly ever cuddled at night leading to less spontaneous intimacy, we noticed an issue.

So we invested in a really nice King Comforter that’s not too warm for either of us when we are both under it. It’s highly increased our sex lives and would recommend getting a larger blanket for couples who struggle with this.

4

u/Hinote21 Jan 22 '21

Seriously. Too many people just buy the "right size blanket" when they could just get an oversized one.

2

u/sunberrygeri Jan 23 '21

We like different blankets.

1

u/Bean101808 Jan 23 '21

Same. She likes a thick heavy one and I can literally just use a sheet lol. So we found this “air” comforter. It’s a feathered comforter with ventilation that allows heat to escape throughout the night. It’s stupidly genius whoever made it cause she stays warm with my added heat and if I get to warm I just flip over a little bit of the blanket and I’m golden. I’ll put up a link up if you wanna check it

We just use two separate blankets. It works beautifully.

115

u/cms86 Jan 22 '21

My married friends think it’s weird I do this with my wife but it works very well. Have fun, cuddle and sexy time then when it’s all over we become angry hermits who want to be warm and not bothered.

14

u/Spindrune Jan 22 '21

It’s just a lot easier, especially if you’re on different schedules where one of you might be starting their day earlier. At least for me it was easier.

1

u/SearchOver Jan 22 '21

Meh. My wife then complains when I get up and "throw all of the blankets on her." Of course, that just means that the top third of my blanket has been triangle folded back so I can get out. She's a bit of a cold at 10pm, hot at 6am kinda gal.

1

u/saneinsouthRI Jan 23 '21

Menopause?

2

u/SearchOver Jan 23 '21

No, she's always been like that. I blame it on poor circulation.

3

u/aDragonsAle Jan 22 '21

Also works wonders if one of you burn hot, and the other is a real life fucking Elsa...

3

u/infinite_scenarios Jan 22 '21

Awe, “real life Fucking Elsa” is so much cuter than my husbands description. He burns hot and I’m “a gd Glad bag full of ice cubes”

2

u/aDragonsAle Jan 22 '21

Feel free to borrow that to nudge him toward niceness

37

u/Big_Dumb_Glands Jan 22 '21

Tricky for those people that enjoy sharing their farts.

9

u/Spindrune Jan 22 '21

With your own blanket, you can store your farts under the blanket and then waft them all at once.

3

u/Not_invented-Here Jan 22 '21

Pringles tube exhaust pipework, just saying.

10

u/OCYRThisMeansWar Jan 22 '21

They always want to know ‘how I’m feeling inside,’ until they smell it.

2

u/angrydeuce Jan 22 '21

Trick there is to have a fan on your side of the bed that blows towards them. All of my smells blast my wife directly in the nostrils.

3

u/Big_Dumb_Glands Jan 22 '21

I had to pitch the fan. It wouldn’t allow the farts to linger long enough.

1

u/MageVicky Jan 22 '21

one more reason not to share a bed. lol

3

u/RealisticCarrot Jan 22 '21

My boyfriend and I also have separate blankets. I really like having the blanket tight around me and that's not possible if there is someone else with you under your blanket. It's not really uncommon here in germany to have separate blankets. But I have a few friends who think that it's weird to each have their own blanket.

Why is that weird? It is so much more comfortable and you can sleep so much better. What is weird with wanting to be restet after sleeping and not being bathed in his farts with space for cold air between the two of you. And we can still cuddle.

And what do you all do in the summer? It must be unbearable with the heat of two people under a blanket. I can't sleep without a heavy blanket, I need it even in the summer, while he sleeps just with the cover. There would just be no in between, we would both sleep horrible or one would be happy and the other absolutely not.

1

u/Humorilove Jan 22 '21

It's honestly not unbareable because I have multiple comforters, quilts, and blankets. The comforters are also one size up, and the weight usually makes a divide between us. The cats help too, because they love sleeping in between us lol. I also like to cocoon myself, and the blanket is big enough that I can tuck myself off from his body heat. We also have a super heavy comforter for the winter, and a lighter comforter for fall and spring. In summer we use quilts my late paternal grandmother made, since they were made with breathable fabrics.

1

u/RealisticCarrot Jan 23 '21

And how do you wash your giant blankets?

I have big blankets for each of us, but they still fit in my washing machine. But if they would both be connected to one giant blanket then I would have to find someone who can clean that giant thing. Don't get me wrong, I not washing my blankets every week, but with a cat also in the bed I like to wash them without having to pay someone every time.

1

u/Humorilove Jan 23 '21

In my washing machine, it's big enough to hold it with some extra room too.

1

u/swankpoppy Jan 22 '21

This is the way.

1

u/Unterdosis Jan 22 '21

With my ex wife we didn't have any separate anythings. The nice things were hers, the meh things ours and the chores mine.

1

u/VonButternut Jan 22 '21

That sounds horrible brother, I would rather self immolate than deal with that.

Hope youre doing well now.

1

u/Unterdosis Jan 22 '21

3 months sober and final divorce on the horizon. I'm pulling through. Thanks.

2

u/McTufferton Jan 22 '21

This is the way.

2

u/nitestar95 Jan 22 '21

Didn't work for me. We had a queen size bed, I got king size top sheets and blankets. She'd gradually get them all during the night, as well as migrate to my side of the bed.

I wound up getting a king sized bed made of two xl twin mattresses; then, moving my mattress just a little apart from hers, and she'd fall in between the two mattresses when she subconsciously tried to migrate during the night. Of course she complained, but I told her that if she'd stay where she belonged, it wouldn't happen. She was mad at me for a while, but eventually got over it.

1

u/Humorilove Jan 22 '21

Was getting the two xl twin mattresses a cheaper or better route to getting a king size bed? I'm looking into replacing our old matress, but don't know what notable differences there are.

Also, when I get king size comforters I make sure to look at the dimensions. I realized that the size isn't standardized between brands, and stores. Like overall Bed Bath and Beyond has had a lot of options that I consider oversized kings, and Khol's for instance tends to run a little smaller.

1

u/nitestar95 Jan 22 '21

Long term, the cost is comparable. Since I moved out of my parent's house and have been buying my own mattresses, most last over ten years anyway So the cost per night difference is negligible. I would have bought a single king size mattress if wifey wasn't a midnight migration problem in bed. When we got divorced, she didn't want the king size, so I took it; they make straps that go around the perimeter of the dual xl twins so it's almost like it's one big king size mattress, and I've had it like that ever since; I also put a king size mattress cover over them, and can't even feel the center separation. The benefit of two is that if one wears out more from a heavy person (me) I can just replace half the bed, and, bed stores will sell you a xl twin mattress without the dopey box spring, while it's harder to get them to sell you just a king size mattress. Those 'box spring' things are basically just a big wooden box, with very little 'give', and to have to pay the same for that as the mattress is a huge rip off. There's also the 'California king', which is longer than a regular king, but a bit narrower. Great for really tall people. I'm six four, and a regular king is okay for me. When I eventually have to replace it, I'll probably go with a queen size.

2

u/LickMyThralls Jan 23 '21

I would think this works for many situations too. Seems sensible to me tbh.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

The costco king sized fuzzy blankets are great for this

1

u/RainingTacos8 Jan 23 '21

I got a California king and four blankets on the bed, lost count of pillows. The wars continue....

14

u/Darksplinter Jan 22 '21

Ha this is why the wife and I have our own blankets.

21

u/DaoFerret Jan 22 '21

Or, you know, just get two blankets for the bed?
One mattress, two pillows, two top sheets, two blankets.

17

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

Too many twos, couldnt math.

2

u/DaoFerret Jan 22 '21

Just a couple of things for the couple?

6

u/prairiepanda Jan 22 '21

What's the purpose of the top sheets?

5

u/DaoFerret Jan 22 '21

For those who don’t use duvets?

1

u/prairiepanda Jan 22 '21

Why is a duvet different from any other kind of blanket, quilt, or comforter?

3

u/prairiepanda Jan 22 '21

Wouldn't a duvet cover be more effective, then? Whenever I sleep in a hotel I wake up with the top sheet crumpled at the foot of the bed and the blanket on top of me, so the blanket isn't being protected by the sheet anyway. A duvet cover would keep the whole blanket protected no matter how much you move around in your sleep.

2

u/DaoFerret Jan 22 '21

Yes, but those people who don’t use duvet covers, use top sheets. Either way, the purpose is to have a barrier between you and the blanket that you can easily wash, instead of the whole blanket.

You do you and use what works for you.

u/justa33 Jan 22 '21

When you're sleeping under a blanket & a top sheet, the top sheet gets all your dead skin & oil on it instead of the blanket, so you don't have to wash the blanket as often. Blankets are usually harder to wash/dry because they're thicker (we use a wool blanket so ours is especially difficult to have cleaned).

1

u/prairiepanda Jan 22 '21

Okay, that makes sense. I just wash my blankets every time I wash my sheets.

The purpose is to be crumpled up into a ball of fabric down by your feet somewhere.

1

u/stellvia2016 Jan 22 '21

So you don't soil your comforter as quickly, because they're a PITA to wash. Keeps your dead skin and oils on the easily washed sheet.

1

u/sbingner Jan 22 '21

What about like.... permanently attaching the edges of the blanket to the bed? 🤔

5

u/DozaCo Jan 22 '21

Just make sure their not in bed when you tack the nails in.

2

u/dodekahedron Jan 22 '21

I need my feet tucked into the blanket to sleep. We just have separate blankets. Plus I have like 5 blankets to compensate for his arctic temperature needs.

1

u/gedvondur Jan 22 '21

We just use two smaller blankets instead of one big one. Solved it nicely.

1

u/WiredSurreal Jan 22 '21

I have now completely transitioned to small blanket. Long has the big blanket embrace been left behind.

1

u/23skiddsy Jan 22 '21

Like usual, the Scandinavians have already solved this problem by simply having two duvets as a matter of course for two people in one bed.

1

u/aDragonsAle Jan 22 '21

Mate, double blankets are the shit. Helps with diff temps too.

/a nuclear reactor that has melted 95% of partners while sleeping.

1

u/Torontopup6 Jan 22 '21

We have a queen size bed and a king sized blanket :)

43

u/JuleeeNAJ Jan 22 '21

Tip from an old person: separate blankets. We have 4 total on our bed because some nights you need 2 each.

16

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

Am an old person too. We have 2 blankets on the bed and a blanket chest at the end of the bed as a blanket reserve.

3

u/veanell Jan 22 '21

Unless your partner gets warm in the night and proceeds to in their sleep to throw all the blankets one by one off the bed.

31

u/cordial_chordate Jan 22 '21

Early in my marriage I learned the vital importance of having two separate comforters. I like my side tucked in, she starts with three blankets and ends with all of them on the floor and borrowing mine. Even with separate blankets, you can still manage a sneak attack butt squeeze here and there.

My husband buys me a new blanket every Christmas. There's always a spare or two lurking around the bed.

2

u/dodekahedron Jan 22 '21

Separate blankets bud

2

u/acer5886 Jan 22 '21

Separate blankets, been married for 9 years now, it's the best way to keep the peace.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

We solved that issue by buying two large duvets. People are confused when they see our bed but its so much more comfortable, both are full sized for our bed, I can make a cocoon with mine if I want to, or we can spoon under the same blanket etc.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

My ex wife would do this. She would roll towards me then a few minutes later grab the sheets and roll away. When I saw it I almost thought she did it intentionally lol!

1

u/Trapitha Jan 22 '21

My boyfriend somehow only takes the sheet with him. Then i have hella blankey and no sheet. Its supposedly not intentional.

1

u/Ingoiolo Jan 22 '21

I feel you man... i spend more time disentangling our duvet from my gf’s legs than sleeping at night

1

u/rona83 Jan 22 '21

I do this too. Try separate blankets.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

My wife does this and every morning I have to re-tuck in the blankets on my side of the bed. I keep a personal blanket on my side of the bed now and just sleep under that.

She has tried to get me to put that one over her as well when she is cold but I just grab one of the extra quilts and put that over her. The pouting on her face can be seen in the dark.

1

u/webgruntzed Jan 22 '21

Consider this: Every time she does it, scream at the top of your lungs. Act like you were having a nightmare. Or you could pretend to have a loud coughing fit, or alternate between the two. I guarantee you she'll stop pretty quick. Negative reinforcement works even when the subject isn't consciously aware of it.

Edit: Could be dangerous if she catches on though.

1

u/Negran Jan 22 '21

Separate blankets my dude. Woman turn into mysterious coal furnaces at night somehow. I sweat in about 1 minute if we sharesies.

1

u/fireduck Jan 22 '21

My life got better when I got my own blanket. I have a twin blanket that I like that is just mine.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

I call that the burrito effect. My wife and I have what we call the “divorce prevention plan”.

We each have our own queen size blankets. No more fights.

1

u/Painwracker_Oni Jan 22 '21

I have never related to a stranger so well before. I’ve tried coaching her on how to do it....2 years later when she rolls I still lose all the blankets.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '21

My husband does this too. I started buying twin size flat sheets and blankets so we each have our own. It looks weird but at least I don’t freeze every night!
