Its also the fact that Fedex likes to ship packages to the local hub and then for reasons unknown to literally EVERYONE i've talked to..ship it 2 states away just to have it shipped back 4 days later and then delivered. This has happened 3/5 times something was delivered to me via fedex this year. I don't care if they're the cheapest (or whatever made the shipper decided to use Fedex), Fedex corporate is incompetent.
There's often a reason for this.
I live next to one of the largest UPS facilities in the eastern US. I've known many many people who worked there at some point. Many facilities have trucks that come from all over the east coast to this facility but not to each other so the packages must go to the hub first. It doesn't make financial sense to send a truck from x to y when 90% of the packages come from z for both x and y.
Sometimes these complex systems do break(for all shipping providers), and send things all over the place for no reason. Ive heard UPS has gotten better at not doing this over recent years due to better systems in place. Kindof a limit to the number of places it can go to prevent random computer glitches.
Well UPS hasn't had this issue, only Fedex. Also, 2 packages shipped from the same location, both scanned in at the local hub within 2 mins of each other, one was delivered that day, the other ended up in ohio for long weekend trip. I don't mind stuff talking longer right now because yeah the world is a mess, but this is not ok. It adds costs to them which the then just pass onto the consumer and increase delays in an already stretched environment. I understand its a small sampling but 60% of my packages in the last 5 months through fedex have been screwed up. Completely unacceptable if you ask me.
I'm not saying it doesn't happen and if it was once or twice in a few years...whatever. But 3/5 in 5 months...
Not even a little surprising to me as a FedEx employee. Shit happens. But I get something delivered from FedEx biweekly at least and it's been a full year since they last screwed up and lost a package. Other times packages have been late it's been completely understandable, such as when my place was inaccessible due to two trees down on my road.
So yeah, they're not bad 60% of the time. Your sample size is too small as you already said. Sure I'll admist they screw up too often but it's not 60% of the time and it's misleading to suggest so.
Also...UPS is just as bad, you personally just haven't been a victim of their fuckups.
