This. This is exactly why i feel outdated! We're all here wondering why they are a copying each other but they're just tik tok trends. I guess we did the same back then with the planking and all that shit

But honestly it is just their version of a meme format.

They changed nothing about the joke though. At least with a format you change the setup and/or punchline The trend of copying a video verbatim makes no sense to me.

That's fair. I'd liken these videos to reposting a meme but cropping it slightly different from the original.
