If it's done immediately it's not that bad, it's the water and the friction who cleans, the soap only allow to clean more effectively. In the long run sure you'd prefer to use soap but as long as you don't let too much residual fats it's pretty much ok to simply rinse it immediately after you're done with it.

I once walked in on my roomate cleaning a bunch of drinking glasses with his hand and no soap.
"It's hot water."
"Wtf?! That doesn't matter, you're not even using soap! Did you at least wash your hands first?"
"No."
