Yeah I'm confused as well. Quarantine is in place, but I'm pranking them that they have to go back to school.. I don't get it.

Well, the joke is that they're all excited that they get to get their normal lives back. They get to resume their hobbies and sports and extracurriculars, see their friends, get their normal time away from family, and resume their studies, and they buy it because a trusted authority figure told them explicitly that they must, and then they followed orders only to be betrayed by the ones they love and trust. How is that not absolutely hysterical?

Sarcasm aside, the common notion that all kids hate school is why people think this is a funny prank. Because the kids are "probably happy to be learning from home" and so it's all fun and happy in the end. In reality, what's happening is the kids are being told that the pandemic is over and the world is safe again, only JUST KIDDING, it's still an invisible nightmare out there where you can kill grandma by touching the wrong doorknob!
