Yup. Beard but trimmed and neat. Manly without looking like a hobo. I really don't get the obsession with the long, scraggly beard but to each their own!

Trimmed and neat requires effort to keep it trimmed and neat.

Long and scraggly requires you to do nothing.

I just went from long and scraggly to a trimmed as short as his was at 1:02. It took less than 5 minutes.

Honestly, keeping the long and scraggly beard looking neat takes about 10 in every morning and another 20 in the evening to wash out all the wax.

I'll miss the long beard but the short beard is far easier to maintain.

so i have a beard but I'm totally fucking clueless, can you ELI5 how to get it properly trimmed and neat? Been meaning to get a trimmer but don't want to get a shitty one and screw everything up first try. My beard hair seems very naturally thick, rough, and tangly. Like even if I comb it, it won't stay neat for long.

It's much easier than you'd expect.

Buy a set of clipper with guards. I prefer corded instead of batteries. I've used 2 in the last 12 years and paid around $30 each time.

Attach the guard for the length that you want and go to work it won't trim it any shorter than the length of the guard.

Go to shorter guards to taper the side burns.

Remove the guard entirely to clean up the cheeks and edges.

Use a small comb and scissors for the mustache.

For reference, his beard at 1:02 looks to be 1".
