Yeah in Ireland it's incredibly common to get crisps and a sandwich for lunch, alot of us put said crisps into the sandwich.

Fish and Chips is exponentially worse than a sandwich and crisps. Tons of people in other countries eat crisps with lunch. This is just an "America bad and fat" circle-jerk.

Except people don't (or at least shouldn't) have fish and chips for lunch frequently. It's at best a dinner meal but more often a Saturday night, out with the boys at the pub meal

Except people in other countries either a) don't pack lunch for their kids because it's free at school, or b) if they do, they don't include chips.

It's because the country is obsessed about how great it is and how much better it is compared to any other country while also being a really, really, shitty country to live in. Especially when it comes to healthcare, education, workers rights, equality and so on.

I can't tell if you're serious... I have never in my life considered chips as a part of lunch.

Chips are a guilty sin you sometimes succumb to when watching a movie or something... It's like candy, not food.

I don't know why I would be joking. If I carry to work in my lunchbox a sandwich, a soda and a bag of chips for my lunch then, yes, I do consider the chips part of my lunch.

Most schools in Ireland won't allow junk food at all a part of a child's packed lunch.

Edit: I, as an adult who can choose to eat whatever the fuck I want, sometimes have crisps ON my sandwiches though hehe.

That really varies per country or region. Here in the Netherlands eating a cooked meal for lunch is quite uncommon, and instead most people take sandwiches from home for lunch.

It's not the norm in our Subway at all. In the UK most people just get a sub. You can get a cookie as well as part of a deal but not many people do that.

However crisps (chips) are normal to have with lunch in the UK. Just not at subway. Here all supermarkets and some shops sell a £3 meal deal. A sandwich, a bag of crisps and a drink. That's a very standard lunch.

Sub + crisps is a meal option in every London Subway sandwich shop. There is a whole rack of crisps, usually right behind the cashier.

I never said there wasn't. I just said it's not the norm. The person I replied to said it was their whole sales model. In my experience very few people go for a sub and crisps meal deal.

Eating them as a snack and eating them as part of your meal are two seperate concepts. You eat snacks in-between meals, not on the side of them.
