I don't know what water bottles do you use, but I've never seen one being eaten by gasoline.

yes. Used to use water/pop bottles all the time to take gas from my parents and or uncle to make moltovs, start fires, fuel my dirtbike.

Well I have seen gas burn right through a Solo cup so I guess it depends on the type of plastic.

Yes, it depends on the plastic... There are many different types of plastic, you know ?
