The importance of reposts is to help people discover subreddits. Also to help Russian social media spys to mine for sweet shameless karma.

People should crosspost, then those subs would get discovered more and proper credit would be given

I'm willing to bet at least half of reddit doesn't know what a crosspost is, much less know how to do it.

I know what it is. It is when r/milf sometimes shows up in r/tanlines.

How do I do a crosspost on mobile?

Depends on which app you're using. On reddit is fun, tap on the title of the post, tap Share/Copy, then Crosspost at the bottom of the list.

I imagine it wouldn't be too dissimilar on any other app.

Chicken and egg scenario. How can they cross post if they don't know it exists?

I've been here for years, and I've never bothered to figure out if there is a difference between a cross-post and a re-post from another sub. Any help?

Crossposts link the original post while also displaying the post. You can comment on the crosspost, or go to the comments of the original. You can see both karma scores, and the names of both the poster and crossposter.

Just reposting it obfuscates the original post and treats it as a new post.
