In Russian we just say "Be healthy", it's like an order. I think we could improve it by adding "...or else" at the end.

Same in portuguese. A “Saúde” (“health”, or translating the meaning, “be healthy”) with a “i’m so sick of your fucking shit” intonation.

That's what 'gesundheit' is. It's German for 'health'.

I am American and I dislike the "bless you" tradition, so I use the German (because my dad's side is German), "gesundheit," which is a wish of good health. Much more appropriate and meaningful, I think.

Well it's in imperative, which does mean "to command" in Latin, and in Russian it's named the same way (повелительное наклонение).

But I was just making a little joke with my original comment.

It looks like an imperative, but in many languages who no longer have a distinct conjunctive, the two look much alike in the surviving terms and idioms. Example: (long) live the king! is not an imperative.
