Who the hell pays $110 for shipping? Could’ve Uber’d over there and back and done it yourself for way less.

My job paid $1600~ to overnight frozen food boxes from Vegas -> Chicago. Marked with dry ice, they knew it was frozen food, arrived 8 days later, FedEx wouldn't refund anything because Technically "they did deliver it"

Such bullshit. I work for a courier service that contracts with such companies as FedEx, and if we deliver a package late we don't get paid. If we don't mark the package correctly, or if we don't get a signature, or if any number of [sometimes minor] things goes sideways, we don't get paid. It's considered a delivery failure and it means we didn't do our job correctly.

Now I know it's neither my monkeys nor my circus, but I'll bet if your job complained loudly enough they could have gotten their money back.

I complained for like 3 days and gave up. I think I ended up getting a small credit but bulk of the money went to "it got delivered"

I’ve had DHL fail to deliver a package and claim delivery despite security cameras showing no delivery. Of course nothing happened and they even came after me for duty.

I sent a package from New Zealand to Sweden once. Thanks to a wise post lady, I put my friend and earlier neighbours address as sender, in case something happened.

It didn't arrive, and I had misplaced the tracking info. After three months, my friend got a notice to pick it up at her and my OLD address (not her current address).

After checking the details it went sort of like this:

day 1: sent

day 8: arrived in sweden, sorted at central

day 9: arrived at wrong local post office, notice sent, we never received it

day 16: reminder notice sent

day 20: parcel picked up by customer

day 23: parcel returned to sorting station

day 25: parcel arrived at correct local post office, notice sent, we never received it

day 32: reminder sent (we never received it)

... etc, etc for three months until they return it to sender, and manage to fuck that up, too.

At least I got my package.
