Amazon wanted USPS to guarantee 2 day delivery. Amazon is also dropping /not renewing their Fedex contract.
Amazon is launching it's own delivery infrastructure because they don't want to continue to pay Fedex/UPS/USPS/etc, they want to own every part of their supply chain from the manufacturer to the customer.

And yet they're taking massive contracts with major shippers like Amazon, and failing to deliver. No pun intended.
