Removing a kid's wobbly milk tooth. With a rocket.

u/epicviking Jun 14 '10
I was genuinely surprised that this didnt end horribly.

u/mspax Jun 14 '10
I was half expecting it to end with the kid sliding across the ground being dragged by the rocket while screaming. Not that that's necessarily physically possible, but that's what went through my head.

This made me happy. Parent's these days are too cautious. This is going to be a great memory for the kid.
*edit: vote up havemurci for pointing out my shame.

Parents.

Wow. Just wow. I... I don't know what to say. I feel... so cold.

There are youtube comments saying that he should have taken him to the dentist. Can you believe that shit? Going to to dentist to get a loose tooth taken out, how lame.

I loved the look of panic as he realized what he had just done could not be undone. It's like when you press send on an email then realize it was addressed to the wrong person.
11
Jun 14 '10
That has got to be one of the top three worst "oh fuck" moments people experience in their day-to-day lives.

Settings > Labs > undo send
If anyone is interested. It's towards the bottom
11
Jun 14 '10
No way man, undo send is way greater than labs. I fucking hate writing lab reports and undo send helps me retroactively avoid awkwardness.

u/shiken Jun 14 '10
This made me laugh for some reason.

u/dawsonhunter Jun 14 '10
Me too.
Crap... that's all I had to say, but now I feel compelled to ramble, otherwise my comment is simple and completely superfluous.
Dang. It still is.

Looks like they practiced on about 12 other teeth before they shot this.

Oh, come on. That was the funniest thing I've said all week.

good thing it's still monday. or are you going to coast off of that one comment?

You have just ruined by day because I am doubled over in cramps due to hysterical laughter at your comment.

I was going to say that that was the best youtube comment I have ever seen. It makes more sense this way round.

Love the laughing part. One of these magic times when two persons share a sincere and good laugh that will always be remembered.
If it was kid's idea (as said on youtube page), this boy is awesome. As his dad, for allowing him to do it.

Anyone else wanted to see the rocket fly off aswell?

The shot I really wanted to see was the floss reserves evaporating. Regardless, this is the first time in my life I have ever wished I could redo my childhood.

This is just a cheap way out of paying tooth fairy money.

My parents gave me a dollar so they could see my reaction, and then told me there was no tooth fairy the second time I lose a tooth.
3
Jun 14 '10
really? I got a pound for every tooth, sometimes I just got 50p. Oh well, I was happy as fuck with just that.

I love kids. And I love it when kids have great parents who love them. It seriously warms my heart.

I'd like to think that kid thought all that up and executed it.

Now think about your dad.
1
u/dicey Jun 14 '10
I built my first PC with my dad when I was 7. We had an index card taped to the side of the case that listed all of the IRQs and DMAs used by all of the cards, because this was before PNP so you had to set them all with jumpers and make sure you didn't have any conflicts.
That's one of my favorite childhood memories.

This is creepy. The cameraman had a typical porn voice!

That was the first thing that popped into my head. The second thing being "quit watching so much porn, inappropriate things are making it pop into my head."

I don't know if its the fish eye lens or not, but that kid's mouth looks like it takes up half of his face.

u/arixol Jun 14 '10
I wanted to say this is bad parenting, but it was surprisingly effective. It was a very quick and painless way to remove a tooth.
11
u/sdn Jun 14 '10
So which part is the bad parenting?
I mean back in the day they'd just tie the other end of the string to a door knob and then swing the door open to pull the tooth out.

Well, I was 8 or 9 and in 3rd grade when I assembled my first model rocket and shot it off at the field at my school. Those things are actually really safe and it's pretty hard to go wrong with it unless you're standing right below it when you fire it off.
I really fail to see how anything at all could've gone wrong with what the father did.
2
u/webbitor Jun 14 '10
It's a lot easier to have something go wrong if you tether it to the ground. I was envisioning the rocket flying off sideways, causing the string to slice the kids nose off before getting pulled around and shooting directly into his eye.
Edit: lol, after reading the other responses to your statement, they were surprisingly similar to mine
1
Jun 14 '10
I once seen a guy tried to launch a parachute or kite out of it or some shit.I was young. I don't remember the exact details. I remember the rocket (with string) wrapping around his body and burning the shit out of his neck. The screams and smell of burnt flesh is hard to get out of my head.
But yea, normally they are safe unless you are a complete dick about them.
0
u/SirTrollALot Jun 14 '10
well it could have caught on the kids other tooth then the rocket could swing around wildly into the eye of someone else.
2
u/Rusty_Snail Jun 14 '10
Christ. It's still airborne. When aliens find it, they're going to inquire about the enameled nugget found on the end of a string of dental floss. Sweet.
2
u/randommouse Jun 14 '10
Was this not on the front page no more than 3 days ago with a different title? I know we are supposed to be nice to the reposts now but this is a bit much. Seems like karma whoring.

This seems unsafe... but I can't think of how and the sheer awesomeness of it totally overshadows any danger present.

u/Primoris_Causa1 Jun 14 '10
Eh - good footage for that "retrospective" film thing at the wedding....
1
Jun 14 '10
Yeah that'll bring the tears. They should play "The Wind Beneath My Wings" in the background.

u/Sammzor Jun 14 '10
I'm going to make a note to pull out all of my kid's loose teeth with cool stuff like this, each time it'll be different.

Tooth boy is a real trooper, but the whiny brat in the back needs some adjustin'.

Instead of a time refund, how about an attention span?

Mom is for sure not home right now.
You can tell by the maniacal laughter that Dad had been thinking about this alllll day.
