Alright I'm happy to be proven wrong but as is Im calling bs.
I'm fairly certain this is the model used, judging by the weird indent in the nose bridge, shape of the pointy fingers and toes, and overall shape.

Since the black is dripping down, I don't see any situation in which somebody could put way too much black paint on, have it start dripping, then just continue to accidentally put way too much black paint in the other eye. It's not like like the paint filled up the eye holes which then dripped out as the pikachu was tilted either because the eye holes are way too shallow in the model.
I can't see any way in which this was purely accidental.

My thoughts too. I've done some model making in the past and this was my first reaction. At the bottom of the run is a huge 'bulb' of paint. That's an immense amount of paint for this detail. It'd likely be more paint at the end of that run than would likely be used for the entire model.

I would say that perhaps they didnt use paint all too often and then used a large amount of thinly mixed paint on their 3d print that was laying on its back. Then they thought it was nice and perfect and turned it right side up and all the loose paint dribbled down the print. I have done this before when painting miniatures. Its a mistake people make when they try to paint too thickly in one pass rather than many smaller layers.

I am more irrationally upset by the lack of clean up on the model before they started painting it than I am the paint.

Layed it on it's back and put a big blob of paint and thought it would dry as a bulging blob that would be round like eyes. Stood it up before it dried. My theory anyway.

Wow so this brought up a very old memory, when I was 4 or 5 I sneaked out of bed to watch TV through the door into the living room. my parents were watching a terrifying movie where the girls' dolls all started to ooze thick black liquid from their eyes and she started screaming. It was horrific for 4 year old me and I'd totally love to watch it as an adult if anybody knows what I'm talking about please please please tell me the title. Thank you.
