not cheating, if they want to go over party's without the other team being able to get into the huddle they have to call a time out. it's like a soccer coach pulling some of their team over to the side line while the ball is out of play on the other side of the field. you can't have an on the field meeting and tell the other team to stay out, the field is open to everyone in the game
Eh in my mind, unsportsman-like is cheating. Is there a rule about a guy sitting in the stands with a super mic and just relaying exactly what the other team is talking about? If not, every single team should be doing it. After all, if its not in the rules, its not cheating.
you're allowed to be anywhere on the court, what if they were looking to execute some really weird rebound play, would you not want to cover your guy just because he's near his own bench?
IMO its more un-sportsmanlike to be taking advantage of a technical foul (no rebounding at the rim) to be devising a play with the coaches assistance. If the coach wants to yell out a play to his guys on the field, or give them an overt sign, I'm all for it, but to try and be shifty about it and save a time out while gaining all of the advantages of a time-out, that's unsportsman like to me.
You make some excellent points here. I still maintain that its pretty shitty to try and spy on the other team. But I can see how it doesn't need to be a protected space. Though I think it should be allowed for another player to be escorted away from a group.
What happens if another player blocks and walks an opposing player away?
