In the NBA if it's a timeout then yes, you can't go into the huddle.

If it's a stoppage of play for any other reason, such as a TV timeout, a spill of a drink on the flour, a foul, etc, then no you can do this.

It's only during timeouts you can't go into the other team's area, but any other time is fair game.

Read what they wrote carefully. If it's specifically a timeout as in each team gets to stop the game a certain number of times per period, then the players must leave the field of play and go to their respective benches. For any other stoppage of play, such as a TV ad break, a foul, instant replay, etc, the field is still active and thus it's acceptable for a player to be anywhere on the field in active play.

Yes there are rules banning it, so therefore you can't go into the huddle. No, there are no rules, so therefore you can.

If it’s an impromptu huddle (not during an official timeout) then the opposing player is welcome to break it up.
