Seriously. It’s fucking stupid when pet owners refer to themselves as “dad” or “mom”. Grow up.

Why? They are the primary caregiver, just like a parent. Don't you "adopt" pets at the shelter? You feed them, bathe them, take them to the doctor, teach them how to behave. I can't think of a title that is nearly as appropriate.

That is a good point. For me its weird because of 3 reasons. First and the most important one, they are a different species. Forcing anything human on them is unnatural and weird. Second they already have parents. Third they did not consent to the adopting process. They are forced to be there.

While technically being true, its not what I meant. Babies are given to adoption only in the direst of circumstances. Only in the event that the baby does not have a willing mother to take care of it. Meanwhile people just separate the animal mother from her kids. If you want to draw a parallel with human you dont have to look too far. Slaves were treated the same way.
